Hello,
I am from the United States and was looking at running a few of the events in toronto this season. Are we allowed to run in your series if we have a US drivers license? is there anything else i need to do exept for registering on your website?
I have run solo2 with the Sports Car Club Of America for 3 years so i am not new to solo2, but would like info on how to start in your series also.
i am also confused on the classing. i saw 2 different forms on classing. one for HADA which basically only has 4 classes with 2 subclasses each and the other was CASC which had the point system for classing. which one would the may 2nd event fall under?
any info would be appreciated,
Jason Wong
The May 2nd event is a Regional Event, meaning that the rules and regulations stated in the http://www.solo2ontario.com applies to that particular event, unless you want to be scored under the HADA banner only.
Being from the states is no problem, welcome aboard, you'll find most people helpful and "almost" personable. :p
Just make sure you have a minimum of snell 2000 helmet, drivers license, and insurance, and you're good to go.
Hope this helps.

Crazymonkey,
You are more than welcome to compete. A U.S. driver's license should be fine...Wes, can you please confirm.
As for classing, you are right there are 2 systems for this event.
HADA has our own club series with its own classification system, then there is the more competitive Regional Series with a much more complex classing system.
The May 2nd event is part of both series. If you want to compete in the Regional Series, than use that classing system, otherwise, use the more simple HADA classing system.
Regards, Keith
Solo 2 Director, HADA.

A US drivers license is fine. Are you a SCCA Club member? In order to be scored for the CASC-OR Regional Series you need to be a member of a CASC-OR affiliated club, but if you have SCCA club membership, it will do.
Snell M95 is the minimum helmet standard.

thanks for all the replys. i am a SCCA member. i've been going through the rules and classing list and it confuses me at some parts. anyone want to help me class the 2 cars that we will be bringing to the event.
car #1
2003 Subaru WRX (setup for STX in SCCA)
engine:
intake, headers, exhaust w/ high flow cat, A/F computer.
suspension:
coilovers, front strut bar, f&r sway bar.
other:
race battery, big brake kit, stainless lines, 17" wheels with either falken azenis or toyo RA-1 (r-compound)
car#2
2000 Subaru 2.5RS (setup for STS in SCCA)
engine:
intake, headers, exhaust, underdrive pulley, a/f computer.
suspension:
coilovers, f&r strut bars, rear sway bar,
other:
STI seats, stainless lines, falken azenis, battery in trunk.
thanks,
Jason
Aaaahhh, that feeeeeels soooo good.
Another Scoob to the mix. Hope you make it out, it will be fun having Scoobs dominate a Honda event. :D
We're all friendly here, except for the odd few. :p

It looks like they should be classed thusly:
WRX - Starts in DS, the intake moves it automatically to ESS where you have 6 points to play with. 1 point for the change in battery weight, 2 points for the sway bars (1 point each), 3 points for the springs, 2 points for the headers = 8 points and the car moves to ESP. There may be additional points for the computer. The points are a technicality, however, as the change in brake rotor diameter automatically puts the car in ESP.
2.5RS - Starts in GS, the intake moves it automatically to DSS with 6 points to play with. The intake and exhaust are free, 2 points for headers, 3 points for springs, 1 point for the sway, 1 point for the change in battery location, 2 points for the pulley, 1 point for each seat substitution = 11 points (or 10 if only one seat was changed) and the car moves to DSP. I don't think the computer change counts for points in this instance.
For an official ruling, send a note to scrutineer@solo2ontario.com

Crazymonkey,
For the HADA series classification, they would both fall under Super Sport Compacts due to computer mods.
As for the CASC-OR series...no clue.
Unless you are planning on coming up for more CASC-OR events, I'd just run the car under the HADA Series.

just an express line to take your cash and sign for the event.
If everyone participates and uses on line registration it will go much smoother this year.
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!only 34 people have preregistered
:(

Preregistration closed yesterday?are you kidding me?.
Serously why stop accepting registration on line 4 days before the event?.
I was going to register tomorow-apparantly not.

Tom,
They've always said that pre-reg will close the Wednesday before the event...
Why wait till closer to the event? It doesn't cost anything to pre-reg.

I think it closes early so that the powers that be have time to extract that data and make sure it's in the timing system and setup. etc.
at least thats my guess

We, the committee agred to wed night at midnight.
That way on thursday i can get all the pre reg forms ready for the express line. I can finalize and confirm all pre registers and on friday i can load up my car.
I committed to being at every event most times the day before so that I can prep.
This means I spend money out of my pocket for accomadations so that YOU guys and girls can have events that run on time....
If you can't ( and I say this partly in jest) can't spend all of 60 seconds to pre register on line by wed night then you deserve to stand in the slow line.
Cmon people, we posted this many times.....its 3 days before the first event and people are surprised.......beats the hell out of me.....

were you really surprised??
the people who are total coneheads probably check this board
more than twice a day..
probably the same people who made it to the open house
probably the same people who show up at the other club events
online sounds/should be/will be the way of the future.. keep making noise
its only the start of the season
keep it up.. and I'd suggest to keep Joe T in a separate bed.
word on the street is he likes to cuddle!!

Tony its not a-I'm pissed at the world kinda thing,or that my feelings are hurt-I just got to thinking about spending 6-7 hour's in the truck,$125+for a room(or wake at 4am,hit the road well before 5)$80 for fuel,$60 for entry fee's,food etc etc.
I just need to figure out if doing/spending all that is worth the 4 or 5 minutes(being generous here)of actual driving,I'm not running the series so it's just for fun.Lotta effort/cash for the amount of fun me thinks.
So its not about me standing in the long line-god knows I've stood in plenty of those in the past.If I change my mind I'll see you all there,if not have fun.

Yes that's the place. There weren't any signs at the April 25 comp but it shouldn't be hard to find, all the cars in the parking lot and all.
I live in Markham, you can send me a pm if you want to go down together.

Yes. These are the directions I got from the HADA board:
From the QEW... get off at the Jameson exit and follow the Lake Shore signs. Lot 2 is the further East lot. You can't miss it. If you hit Strachan, you passed it.

If you are coming from Markham:
Take 404 South to the Don Valley Parkway, South, to Gardiner Expressway West.
Get off at the Lakeshore Exit and follow this to Ontario Place.
You can't miss it!
If you have a problem finding the place, call me at 416-527-8646.

Looks kinda quiet this weekend as far as road closures go. (http://www.city.toronto.on.ca/transportation/road_info/index.htm)
Ongoing construction at the 401 / DVP southbound makes traffic a real bitch, but it itsn't closed.
