Results for event #4 are now posted, I thought a quick explanation might be in order, especially for the novice competitors.

Points scores are calculated using "Net Points" which is already taking the 3 throwaway events into account. As you all know, this year the competition is based on the best 6 scores out of 9 events, with Net Points the throwaways are taken out as soon as there are more events than the number of throwaways.

In other words, at this point the overall scores are the best 1 out of 4 events, the next time out it will be the best 2 out of 5 events, then 3 out of 6 until we finally get to the best 6 out of 9 at the last event.

It might seem a strange way to do it but it makes it easier to see how close your competition is and what you need to score to move ahead.

For example, if you look at the overall standings leaders there is a 3 way tie for the lead between cars 777, 18 and 71 but notice that car 777 also has another 100 point score in his "back pocket" waiting to be played. If either car 71 or 18 gets the 100 points next time out there will be a 2 way tie for the lead.

Another scenario, if a fourth competitor gets 100 points next time out, car 777 will take the lead with 200 points and those trailing will see what points they need to score to catch up.

Hope that helps answer questions in advance. Even though it may seem an odd way to do things it shows how well you need to do at your next event!
