no...it looks like 70% chance of clouds. See, i'm an optimist. Mind you, i'm running tires that have a decent amount of tread this time.

I beat Daniel, Barry and Curt for FTD. Raw and PAX. I'm happy you had to work and that D'Arcy and Mike decided to stay home.

Oh and WOSCA hosted a great event with great weather!

The cheese whiz Miata was definitely top dog today. Well deserved, Steve, you drove the wheels off that thing!! Great to see!

Thanks again to WOSCA for a really fun day!

It was our pleasure to host the final round of the provincial series this year. As usual we are impressed by the high level of competition, which is equalled by the high calibre of all the competitors as they push one another and help out at the event in any way they can. Thankfully the weather co-operated today. Well done guys, thanks for coming and congrats on a great year!

That was a lot of fun; apologies for my negative feelings about the course after walking, it drove really well!

Unfortunately I didn't. I think I took out more cones this event than the entire rest of season put together. Don't think I can make Daniel put that sticker on his car next year after all.

In other notes, fun runs can be dangerous to the wallet:

After driving Jamie's car which pulls better stock than mine modded, it seems that it's high time for my 310k km engine to either get some love or get kicked to the curb. Both options being priced out last night.

More dangerously, driving Steve's Evo resulted in a flurry of Autotrader searches. Damn that thing was impressive; comes from an entirely different planet than my WRX did.

Watching my over my gopro videos, your car doesn't look as slow as we all felt. I actually found your car very easy to drive and really fast. Could of been from the added grip and nice setup. I think the lack of PS actually hinders your car on the autox course. At lease for slower speeds. Off center at slow speeds it is very stiff with those big wheels. Lots of arm strength needed. To bad we didn't have the timing up for our fun runs. You should drag race Andrews nb2 feels faster/healthy though.

I will be going to the 1/4 mile hopefully by the end of this season just to see what she runs. i will be happy with low 15s @ 90mph

Thanks WOSCA for stepping in and holding the last event. For people in the GTA its worth the drive for there events. The boring drive has very beautiful scenery. Course looked challenging on the first FOUR course walks. lol. I also did get lost on my first run. After learning the course it was a fun nice following set up! Thanks Darcy and Curt (hope I'm not missing anyone).

Thanks to the "old school" Street touring guys for showing us street guys who's boss. We have showed you up to much this year. Having said that I think you guys can thank the weather and us for clearing out the course for you guys! :p :o .

Damn that Lancer pulls! It seems to do everything very well, even stock.

I changed the setup on my car to much the last 2 events trying to get it to rotate under braking and with turn in. I'm happy with the setup now but my timing is all off and have to relearn the car with more seat time. Should be cool to see what it will feel like with new bump stops all around next session.

Lets keep this going this place has been to dead this year. Post your thoughts and opinions BELOW :p

I honestly hate the lack of PS. Fine on faster courses, but for slow sections it's very hard to make quick corrections with the slow rack.

Will be compression testing the car this week to see how she looks.

How much oil are you burning and consuming?

Mine doesn't burn a drop of oil. I do add about 1L ever 5,000km but my rear main is leaking like crazy. (only seal left to replace).

My catch can all summer (about 6000km) only caught about 15-20ml of oil. My catch can is a good design with a built in filter. I also rev it to about 4,600-5,000rpm in 5th on the highway for hours at a time. ;) Also lots of rev limiter.

What spark plugs? I tried 3 different ones to get a heat range I was happy with. (geek lol)

Remember 4 full revolutions with the throttle plate open. Not sure on spec but I would be happy with 180psi. I would remove fuel pump relay also.

Are you sure your intake is gaining you any HP? Might hurt. What size is your exhaust?

I wonder if your more flat torque curve (thank vvt) makes it not feel as fast? Whats your base timing? Mine is 10dregees advance (stock) i think you can run up to 15 with 91 gas. Not sure if this helps nb2 with VVT on intake cam.

Agreed and I enjoyed both the drive out and back. Especially since I took mostly back roads to enjoy the fall colours. Love those 90 km/h speed limits too.

Val: https://youtu.be/Lgh0wNnkpTA
You can really see that he ran 0.5 faster then me. He just carries more speed in the tight 90s

Daniel and Barry video's are coming. You can really tell you guys are learning the car. Steering is much easier then Barry's car with less turn in.

Cool, thanks Jamie!

Bit tough to compare as Barry and I did ours as fun runs with nothing much left of the course, but definitely interesting to see the drastically different driving styles.

- Val wins for the smoothest inputs/lines, hands down.
- Think I win for (no surprise) being the least smooth. Bit of a bully behind the wheel. I will put that car where I want it whether it wants to go or not... lol :D

I think you're all late on the throttle, but tough to tell from the videos how much of that relates to corner entry position. Also think you guys all lost out on the speed you could carry through the last left hander after coming back across the lot.

From what I could tell, Jamie's car that day seemed to be loose on entry, and pushy on exit. I had an advantage on you guys due to having two runs in Jamie's car where ya'll had one. And I spent the first run in it chasing oversteer into some of the corners. Also had a bad line on the left hander before the final cross which lead to pushy marble action. 1:03.0. The second I was more prepared and didn't really get that entry oversteer and the run seemed to be smoother and felt faster. Hello second gear limiter. But only 1:02.9. I'd love to see the first run I did to compare.

I agree with you on that final left hand sweeper. I was playing it on the safe side and wasn't confident that the front was going to hold the line like I wanted. Didn't want to throw that run away.

I was really just trying to gauge differences with my car on that run; as you say, not much left of the course.

Which... is probably mostly my fault from my run in Steve's Evo.

PS: Evo's rock.

Yeah the car was very loose and way different then last event. I was playing it safe that run trying to get a good run in with no cones. I wasn't very confident with the car. You should see my other runs I'm over steering like crazy. I will get them up tomorrow.

Yeah since you guys were just doing fun runs with a messed up course, no timing and no seat time hard to really tell from that.

Who's want to pitch in for tires next year and have 4 drivers for an event. Lol

Interesting how driving style affects how a car behaves. I found the car very planted - but that may be just compared to Barry's that I had driven all day. Corner exit was definitely "pushy", I agree with that.

Btw, please don't take offense to my comments or feel the need to explain. There's no doubt it wasn't an equal playing field and not the best situation for comparison. It's just rare that we have the chance to see things from this perspective.

I need to relax and try to be smoother. That's my goal for 2017. Could very well mess me up, but worth a shot! lol :D

No worries here man I love the input. Only way to get faster is seat time and constructive criticism at this point.

I think in the e36 you have to be aggressive to get the thing to turn. lol

I need to dial in the setup more and want the input. That's why I wanted you to drive it.

Again, comparing to mine: I thought it was very planted and any looseness to be pretty catchable and exploitable.

This run was the first really dry run of the day and really made me loose confidence in the car, and trying to drive it like the old set up didn't help. lol

If I were you, I'd leave the car as is for the moment. See if you can use that oversteer on entry to let you get on the throttle hard. Tricky, but rewarding.

Eg: See Barry at :50 and :57 https://youtu.be/X7Tsdooaje4?t=50

Are we saying this is faster tho? (slip angle/drift?) Really heard to say. I did better in the car when it "pushed" almost every where. Could of been my driving skill tho? Will this slip angle over heat the rear tires?

BTW this was the alignment on Sunday.

It can definitely pay off (little bit of "slip", NOT drift), but it'll have the opposite effect if it can't be done consistently. No doubt in my mind that a car that rotates will be a faster car... with practice. The M3 rotates nicely, but only when really forced. I have it setup for stability on the track which isn't ideal for autocross, but it can be done. The trick is figuring out when/how it happens and making use of it.

Jamie, I agree that you should stick with this current alignment for now. Seemed pretty balanced AND you're only going to confuse things if you're unsure and constantly changing it.

I think for the money the GM 2.4 ecotec swap is better. Around 200whp 200ftp and a "new" yard engine is only $300 not $2000-$7000. (Ish) Now having said that if you want 400hp all day every day then you know the answer...... LS3!
