1981 VW Scirocco Rally/Race Car

I am selling my rally car which I’ve owned since 2005. It ran in 2wd Open. It’s currently set up for rally with a CARS log book. It also has a CASC-OR logbook for road racing. I am asking 6000$, OBO.

It has a 1.8 litre 16v engine with Techtonics Tuning 268/276 cam set paired to a 4k short ratio transmission from an early GTI. Other aftermarket modifications include; baffled oil pan (difficult to find);no name header; Vibrant cat, S.S. braided brake lines; Bilstein HD stuts/shocks all around using Corrado springs up front and adjustable perches at the back; lower K bar brace (link between control arms); Missing Link adjustable shifter linkage kit; Oil cooler.

The shell is relatively clean seeing as the car has been stored indoors for at least the past 15 years (but likely longer – I didn’t know the owner before the previous owner). There is some surface rust that requires periodic TLC. The body panels are not perfect as it was involved in racing... The two front fenders are crumpled. I have two spares but remounted the crunched ones as they were still usable and replacement fenders are hard to come by.

The car includes:
2am Rallysport rally computer/odo
2am Rallysport skid plate
OMP driver’s seat (2007 FIA label)
Corbeau wide co-driver’s seat
OMP belts (expired)
4x Bosch Rallye lights on bar
Battery kill switch
Peltor intercom
Terratrip map light
Momo Competition steering wheel
tool box mounted in back with tow cable, first aid kit & a few wrenches
scissor jack mounted in back & set up to accept an impact socket
2x mounted fire extinguishers
tow bar, tow lights & safety cables
3 sets of tires mounted on rims (1-Michelin gravel, 1-Yokohama gravel, 1-Yokohama winters)
roof vent (not installed)
window nets (not installed)

Spares include a transmission; new driveshafts; used control arms, new polyurathane rear axle bushings, new fuel pump; new master cylinder; new rear brake cylinder; used fenders; switch panel (with breakers); used gas tank (recently resealed/coated but not yet used); new rear wheel bearings; used steering column; used 16v exhaust manifold; used mk3 starter; used front door windows & winder/cable mechanism; aftermarket door cards and some other odds and sods I can’t think of at moment and a bin of parts for converting it back to an 8v engine. Timing belt and water pump were last replaced when engine was installed – less than 5000km ago.

Other rally essentials:
2x gas cans
1x fire extinguisher for service area

Turn key ready for Rally Sprint or Rally Cross. Requires new belts, seats & spill kit for CRC or OPRC stage rally events.

Car is located in North Bay Ontario, Canada. (not Thunder Bay – 12 more hours north!) I can be reached at a.r.tremblay !at! live !dot! com

This was my car. I built the car as a road race car, and used it in IT racing in the US. The previous owner to me bought the car back, and turned it into a rally car. I'm not sure how many owners since.

I'll email.

Edit: Your email bounced back.

Gotta say, that's pretty cool. Small world. I didn't know the previous owner had sold it, and bought it back. I think it was in 2005 that I bought it from James S. Email should work now. Anthony
