Judy Lang of BARC has asked that I pass this along. I for one find it to offer a sort of timely reassurance.

"Well the dates have been set and we are ready to go racing again in the RACE FOR A CURE for Huntington's.

"Sept 25-26th we will be racing at Formula Indoor Kartways in Brampton. There are two separate races each day, the times are 7:30 AM and 9:45 AM. Each race will have ten teams of four drivers each, racing to complete 136 laps. Each driver of the team will race 17 laps then enter the pits for a QUICK driver change. No need for tire changes but a mandatory fuel stop is required halfway approximately lap 80. There is lots of fun and excitement not to mention competition. Pledge forms are available and will be provided when you book your time. Teams are gridded the day of the race by the total donations collected by your team. Pole (starting position) is awarded to the highest team total. Tax receipts will be issued to everyone completed on your pledge forms. If you are not able to make a team you are still encouraged to out and support your fellow workers and friends.

"There is a glassed in spectator area to watch all the action below especially the driver changes!! Donations for the event are also gratefully accepted by contacting me.

"Huntington's disease (HD) is a hereditary brain disorder with devastating effects on both mind and body. HD is a disease of families-every child of a person with HD has a 50% risk of inheriting this deadly disease. Symptoms, including uncontrollable jerking movements and profound cognitive and emotional impairment, usually appear in the late 30's. HD is fatal; as yet, there is no treatment or cure. There has never been a better time to join our race for a cure! Scientists are confident we will find a treatment or cure within the next few years. Each project we fund holds the promise of a world free from Huntingtons disease. We are so close to a breakthrough! But in order to find a treatment as soon as possible, we need to make investments in HD reasearch today. we are a leader in genetic research. when a treatment is found, it may start a "domino effect" and bring researchers much closer to cures for opther diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and even cancer. Thank you for your support and interest in learning about Huntington's Disease. Please be a part of WAVING THE CHECKERED FLAG TO END HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE."
