Oooh, a trivia question! :D
DFV stands for Double Four Valve.
Now what you really wanted to know - a DFV is a 3.0 litre Cosworth Ford V8 Formula One engine.

Kieth Duckworth had a quaint way of naming his engines.
I think the DFV was made buy "joining" two Ford 105 blocks together and sticking his two cam heads on it , presto! the most successful F1 engine ever for less than $300,000.00.
There is a chance a DFV Crapri will be at Mosport this weekend.

Yup. That's exactly what he did.
The predecessor of the DFV was the FVA Formula 2 engine. FVA stood for "Four Valve Anglia" - so when he hitched two of them together, "Double Four Valve"
Then there was the Formula Atlantic engine, which was a variant of the FVA - it had a belt drive for the cams so it was the BDA "Belt Driven Anglia"
I love this stuff! :p

Do you know what BDG stood for? It was like the BDA but older I think. I saw it in the formula B type cars in Trinidad years ago but couldn't find out what it was. belt driven ...

I had to go to the net for this one ...
A BDG is a big variant of a BDA. The BDA as it was developed got lots of different letters in sort of chronological order.
This link has a detailed account ...

I'm wrong in thinking the "A" stands for "Anglia" - it refers to the series of engines although I'll guess they were in Anglias.

I recall Jason Holehouse ran a BDA in his Ralt RT4. They became like hens teeth for a period of time because the Pro Series needed so many of them that if you had a good block you could get pretty much anything you wanted for it, and the new ones, I don't remeber the designater BD? didn't hold together as well.
The BDA was virtually indestructable. (Anyone who saw Jason race will attest to that)

I would like to thank all the Puresport Gt competitors that attended the BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races this past weekend.
A great turnout, great racing and pretty good weather. We can't keep doing what we love without your participation.
Thank you all
