That's fine... I'm SURE they will position it as something that a SMALL minority of people participate in... is illegal... and NOT limited to young men in import cars... I'm SURE they won't mention aftermarket parts... and CERTAINLY won't mention NOS!!!!!!!
I'm sure they won't lead you to believe that young men in imports are aiming to kill your innocent children on public streets and that police simply can't keep up... so the only option is to profile them at large public events... and cast nets around legitimate motorsport venues in hopes of laying charges to make the headlines.
Do you think they'll show ANYONE over 35 in an import car?
Do you think that they'll mention that aftermarket parts CAN BE DONE by middle-aged men... AND IN FACT BE SAFE if not SAFER?
Do you think they'll mention the musclecar-era? Do you think they'll mention 427's or big-blocks? EXACTLY what these hyppocrites with rose-colour glasses were doing and driving back in the '60's and '70's?
Do you think that they'll mention that 50% of cars... have aftermarket or re-built parts on their cars? Including soccer moms and SUV suburbanites?
Do you think that they'll do an indepth-enough report to show that the SERIOUS offenders and dangerous idiots are NOT in the neon-coloured, metallic flake cars with altezzas... and 5 15" subwoofers and 18" rims???
This world is in perpetual need of a villian... and a scapegoat... so here we go.
Will they MENTION the word "profiling"?
Will they do an in-depth enough report to show the impact that thes F&*@%$* reports have on other stakeholders and the ripple-effect that they cause?
Will they mention "the Fast and the Furious"? (100% GUARANTEE!!!)
Spoonie... time to write another article... you can start it now... and just fill in a FEW blanks once you see it.
Here we go again.
To continue on to Jeffie's rant.
Do you think they'll focus on who's supporting their efforts?
Do you think that they'll take the time to locate the real Street racers and leave legit enthusiasts alone?
Why don't cops do a sting on boards like these -> http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=40297&page=1&pp=10
Where people are constantly encouraged to play dangerously. They even bragged by posting videos of their over 200 KPH run at the 407 (see last page of that link).
Not to mention that 2 of those posters are from a local tuner (Dweeb and Andy) are with a tuner in Mississauga.... Hypocrites.
Anyways.. My .04 cents.

Well, reminds me of the day.But we would use CB radios for contact info. The way things are today they are taking a very big risk street racing.
Joe in the State of Florida if you are caught Street Racing they sieze the car forever.Gone!
This will happen here too but the sport will take a serious beating first.

Unfortunately, even "legitimate" motorsports enthusiasts are already feeling the results of this with the insurance companies. I heard SEMA is looking at the goings on in Ontario, as they feel that it might be predicting a trend across all of North America. It'll be interesting to see how the aftermarket companies, whose products and customers are being "targeted", will respond.
Cheers!
Jeff
The police are more interested in making it appear they are doing something rather than actually doing it . They will always take the easy way out , nailing streetcars at the entrance to Cayuga is only one example of this another that comes to mind is on the main route to the Darkknights carshow . What kind of an impact this has on streetracing is beyond me .
Handing out ticket$ where they are gaurenteed to make the most money in the shortest amount of time .I guess they run the police force like any good business should be run .

William,
has that method worked to actually curb street racing in Forida...
all that does it make it more of challenge not to get caught.. it practically garentees that if a cop chases a street racer they will run and they will try to drive beyond their limits.
What we need is for the media to get heavily involved in showing that grassroots motorsports is cool....
most of the guys that enter thier cars in the shows don't street race their mentality while different from our "staying safe at the track attitude" is one of "Why do I want to invest 15 grand into my car only to write it off street racing" I hear this all the time from my friends that enter shows...
IMO to curb street racing you can't just take a heavy handed no options approach. What we need is for grassroots to be brought into the limelight to show the public it's safe. If you surveyed Parents and asked them "do you kids street race?" you'd probably get a 100% response saying "no" Parents have to be educated so that they can educate their kids.

I happened across that site a long time ago, I still wish I could have the lost time back. Probably the dumbest site I have ever seen.

I hate that crap. My car is faster BS. Any retard can dump money under the hood of the car and beat others in a straight line. But where it really matters in the corners that retard is lost. Ide challenge those guys to a solo2 race and beat them with my stock civic. But I want nothing to do with them. They have no skill or intelligence.
