Greetings Solo Brethren (and Sistren).
Some of you may have noticed the total absence of my multi-coloured Trailer and the infamous "freakmobile" from the last couple of weekends. (Not to mention my smiling face!)
Well - for a conspiracy of reasons, I have not been able to attend.
During the Mosport weekend - I had to attend a wedding in Edmonton - and during the last Shannonville dates I was in Cayuga, at the drag strip, breaking my center diff.
I will be dropping by this weekend to see you all at Cayuga - but alas - I have chosen not to compete in the event. Before any rumours get started about me being afraind of the competition . . .
Here's a summary of where I am at.
Last fall we started rebuilding the tame street talon into a road track monster. It was my intention to compete in the CASC regional races and use SOLO for testing and set-up. As the year went on - it become obvious that my car would not be ready for regional racing until late, late this year - (far more work, and expense, than I could have ever imagined).
Then a few weeks ago - a funny thing happened. While I was in Edmonton, my mechanic took the Talon to Montreal for a drag race and ran a respectable 11.464 quarter mile. They simply turned up the boost from 15 to 24 and dynoed 420 HP at the wheels. The following week we finally installed the turbo and head (titanium valves, springs, etc) that we had been planning all year and took it to the dyno to amaze even ourselves. - 538 HP at the wheels! WOW. - Without Nitrous!
What that means is that the car has the very real potential to run a 10 second quarter mile and actually compete to be the Fastest Import Car in Canada. Current record is 10.44.
Might even be able to be the first import in Canada to ever hit the Nines.
So I have taken up this challenge - and much of the schedule for the Import Society Drag Series, conflicts with Solo weekends.
To make a long story short - as your friend, co-competitor and series sponsor - my support and thoughts are out there with you and I will be back at some point.
In the meanwhile, I'll be coming to Cayuga on Saturday, on my way to a Drag Race in London, and hope to see many of you.
All the best
Nick Majors
(I live my life a quarter mile at a time - yada yada yada!)
