This continuing article should be of interest to the honda guys but these principles can be applied to any engine.

Hmm. According to that article, torque is bad for drag racing. I wonder if those guys carry cash around with them... heh!
Brent, quit researching n/a engine build-ups! You're scaring me with all your big cam C/SP ideas! :D Don't make me go Hoosier shopping, please
Seriously though, we're going to have a ball in C/SP next year!

Dave, don't worry the way things are going I won't be scaring anyone next season.
I just thought the comparison would be interesting. Welding a spacer to my block and having it resleeved sounds kinda expensive. Using shorter rods wouldn't cost anymore and milling some off the block shouldn't be that expensive. It will be interesting to see the end of that article.
Now, a short rod, high reving engine with relatively high compression running a low boost turbocharger to get it the air it needs at high rpm and replace some of that lost torque, oh ya, I don't have any money, never mind.
Doesn't the Neon share the same block as the Eagle Talon? If so, maybe it would be fairly cheap to hit the junkyards/wreckers and piece together a Talon turbo addition for your Neon, rather than going to expensive n/a build-up route? You could probably make as much if not more power with a OE turbo set-up and I bet it could be done on the cheap if you let your fingers do the walking. Check out www.car-part.com for the availability of Talon Turbo parts.
I'm sure you know more about this than me, but I'd have to guess that there's more than a few turbo Neons out there that have gone this route. Just something that popped into my tiny little brain. Not sure why. Maybe I want to be the only n/a car left in C/SP or something :p
I'd love to do a turbo build-up someday, if for nothing else than the cool sound of a blow-off valve! Pfffffshhhht! Wish I had of known enough about cars to have done this to my Talon TSi when I had one, though I was too broke to afford any mods back then anyway. When is the Super 7 going to pay off for me!?!?

The dohc neon and the N/A talon motors are the same and made by chrysler (the head designed by lotus). The turbo eclipse motor is made by Mitsubishi and the parts are not interchangable. I wish they were. Although the turbo engine should fit in a neon, with a bit of massaging, I have never heard of it being done.
The 2.4 litre motor from the pt cruiser, stratus etc. will fit in the neon (same motor only with a longer stroke). The neat thing about this is that in Mexico chrysler sells the status or something with a 2.4 turbo motor. So if you can speak spanish you can phone down and get the parts to turbo it. I think the manifold and that will work on the 2.0 litre motor, could be the route to a cheap turbo but that sounds to easy.
The 2003 neon will come with the 2.4 litre turbo engine option, supposedly 240hp. Then the turbo set up for the neon should become cheaper, maybe I should wait?
