It may be useful to note that the tires Menard starts producing in November are actually for 2006. They allow the tires to cure for a year(ish) before they sell them.

We ran into a problem with the tires 2 years ago as AMEC had made their bulk order at the start of the season surprising Menard and taking the majority of their stock. They were forced to expidite production of new tires without the full cure. This results in very soft tires that spit out the studs quickly.

This shouldn't be a problem as they have adjusted their inventory accordingly (unless another club does the same thing).

Apparently another club has ... earlier, and that's the reason for a tire being around the $200 mark... talk about black gold!

Well...I'm gonna guess you guys are getting different news than we are. I talked to my source tonite and there is no change in price of a Menard tire (except for the exchange).

I don't remember where the rumor started anymore.

This shouldn't be a problem as they have adjusted their inventory accordingly (unless another club does the same thing). I brought this up at last months meeting Robert, and found out differently. The problem with the Menard tires two [or is it three now?] years ago was not due to the timing of A.M.E.C's tire order, or because the tires hadn't cured long enough. The problem [according to Menard] was that they used a different supplier for their bulk rubber order that year. It turned out to be inferior and was a real problem for them [and us] . We asked for some sort of compensation but to no avail. We realise that Menard is a small operation and couldn't afford to reinburse anyone. We just swallowed hard and moved on. Everyone in our club that bought Menards in 2002 had tires that spit all of the studs out very quickly. We even had a set that was not used and let cure for two additional years and they fell apart just as badly last season. Just thought I'd share with you all the story as we understand it.

Amazing the different stories you can get from a supplier. Just looking to keep everyones business I guess! LOL

Most of our guys ususually buy their Menards a year ahead of time and let them sit around for a year curing a little more before they use them. Didn't work that time though. Hopefully they are better this year!
