Alright...After the meeting today..i think we are getting close.

here is the tire we are leaning towards using.

http://www.1010tires.com/images/tires/hankook_zovac_W401_lg.jpg

They look like they have a decent scratch pattern (more than CTC tires and whatever)

A final rules set needs to be given to Dave by Dec. 1. so we don't have much time to figure things out.

Keep watching this thread for updated info.

The price of tires should be very competitive, with most popular 13, 14, and 15 inch tire sizes available.

155R-13 -------- $73.45 + studs + tax
175R-14 -------- $88.44 + studs + tax
165R-15 -------- $88.44 + studs + tax

These were available 2 weeks ago.
Most any other size are available, I think.
I will check with supplier tomorrow.

Bad news.
My supplier does not have enough to supply everyone needs.

What is the availability province wide?

why Hankook and not Gislaved or Hakkas or something else? If we were going to get a huge price break like Toyos RA-1's for TGT I can see going with one tire brand but otherwise why doesn't everyone pick the brand they like the best and are prepared to pay for?

Because then it will not be a SPEC tire.

i'm looking into a couple things.

It may or may not be these Hankooks.

if there is not enough supply, no great price break, no sponsorship deal how can it be the hankooks? I like the rule the way the rule book was printed and distributed.

at the very least we will be changing that rule

there is no way you can have the studs protrude 5 MM and have them all stay in.

Let alone 38 per foot.

The only tire that would come close to using those rules to the max would be a Rally tire, the price of those is somewhere around 300 a pop.

George Walker just called me and he has a tire guy in Bracebridge that has Winter Force tires for sale. They come in 13, 14 and 15 and are ready for studding. The price is between $65 to $80 per tire unstudded. Studding would be extra. Send me an email if you want to call George for more details. He is one of the guys that wants to run in the new series.

Is this the tire in Question?

If so they are readily available in Ontario.

i don't think that is a screaming good price for those Winter forces.

I did a little research yesterday, and was able to find out that Pirelli Winter Carvings, are very much in stock in quebec and can be here the next day.

The prices were around the same price as the winterforce's and i believe they are a much better tire.

I did talk to Hankook yesterday, and i got absolutely nothing from them. They would not even talk to me, and i was told i needed to go through a retailer. They would not give me tire availability or even pricing.

I believe with the Pirelli's that we can still be around the 100 dollar mark for a studded tire in 13 inch size.

I believe no matter what we go with, a 14 inch will be closer to 125 a tire, simply because the tires are more expensive.

I just called my tire dealer, and he will get back to me on Hancook and perhaps an alternate. I will re-post as soon as I have more news.

If the region would have info on total entries (yeah I know, that would be nice), then any tire supplier could plan, and be prepared. It would also give us some negotiating ability.

I just got a call back from Tony at Let's Roll Tire, 416 654-8433. He can provide very competitive pricing (twist his arm) on the Hancook sizes listed, supply is not a problem, as well other sizes are available.

Tony has served me well for approx. 17 years. He would welcome the racing customers.

His shop is Finch/400 area.
