Now that the track is built, I suspect the safer barriers will be installed this week. So no more bank running.

Oh Great!, now I have to redesign my suspension to work down on the track as opposed to up along the top of the bank, where I usually like to run.

"Safer barriers" -- please explain.. I don't ride the banks, but I occasionally park on them and watch the race from a different vantage point.. Worried that "safer" == concrete.

Perry in my 1st year I accidentally did a major high banks impression when a miscue put me up on a very hard bank-I buried the throttle to ensure I didn't get stuck and ran over half the sweeper right up on the bank.I was trying to get down off it honestly,it did work well as I had a great launch the front strait-BUT I didn't do it again in the remaining laps.
Anyways right after the race I had a very unpleasant visit from the stewards.
I try and avoid the banks after that;)

You see now, that's been done many times before and is getting old. It takes real finesse to run along the top and then strategically make your move to get back into a good position without losing a place.

Nothing was more appealing to me is when I took my first ride in an ice racer. It was car #69 a 1986 Yugo and Muffin was driving. On or about the fourth lap she over braked into the kink and we got launched off the kink. Actually the two driver side wheels left the ground. I looked out my side window to see nothing but ice. As we were coming down on all fours and the Marshall on the corner was retrieving all her flags (as she didn't know which one to throw), I reached up and grabbed the chicken bar. From that point on I knew I wanted to race but no longer wanted to be a passenger!!!
It's funny how things turn out. Before the ride I just wanted to help out (volunteer) where needed. After the ride I just wanted to race. For those who volunteer, ask to go for a ride, you won't be dissappointed, just don't ask Muffin.
:D

no no..you guys have it all wrong. mainly cause you are hooked on those infernal 2WD machines.
Man..it's 10 times more fun to be coming outta the last corner (Counterclockwise). Notice that there is no way you are gonna make the corner as you are heading ass first for the mock grid. Now....catching the rear end in the snowbank is bound to leave you nose first into the snowbank. So...at the instant the rear end hits the bank, your defy logic and steer hard right (into the bank) while somehow finding first gear, you drop the clutch, and floor the thing. What results is a complete 360 ONTOP of the snow bank, you end up back on the track facing the right direction. As you select 2nd gear, you notice that the 2nd place car just decided to sit back and watch your manouver, and find 10 drivers on the mock grid picking themselves off their hoods as they jumped back in fear. :D
And Dave...you got nothing....ask Lisa some stories. Like the one time i was faced with a decision to t-bone Tom's Skoda, or to floor it, drive ontop of the inside snow bank, while we were ontop of the bank, Tom nosed into the snow bank underneath us, which launched us perfectly back onto the track!!

Lisa,
You must be delusional. The liitle Honda never takes anyone "OUT". It more or less helps you know what "line" I'm taking.

Since we're talking about jumping the banks, we had a situation 2 years ago where two cars jumped the bank and landed side by side in the snow barrier between the track and the hot pit.
The first car (an Audi Quattro) was being driven by a "new" driver, driving his brothers car. When the brother asked him how the hell he ended up in the bank he replied "Well, I tried to turn and ir just kept on sliding". The brother replied back "I told you when the tires just spin, get off the gas, let it turn, then get back on!". "I know, I know" the other brother replied.
The second car (a Honda CRX) driven by a second season driver, when asked how he ended up in the bank next to the Audi replied "Well, I couldn't see anything through all the snow dust so I was just following the lights in front of me!"
I wish I had a picture of it! So classic!

LOL
Yeah, I just draw my line on a small piece of paper and tape it to my steering wheel. The problem is when I turn the wheel the line keeps changing direction…so I keep following it.

Hey Crusher: Just got a chance to read this. Let me clarify a few things 1) I did not over- break, I hit a rut and that sent us into the bank. 2) ALL four wheels were up on the bank (only chickens keep two wheels on the track) 3) Ok you were right about the marshall, 4) And guys he did not slowly grab the sissy bar, he hung on like his life depended on it. and then had the nerve to kiss the ground when the race was over (I don't understand that, I'm not a bad driver, ,,,,,,,,, just a little crazy sometime.
Any way, I did get us an ice race director out of that little joy ride so I guess I did all right in the end..... LOLOLO>OLOL
Love ya Crusher ;)
