On boxing day some a**holes cut the locks off and broke into our race trailer parked out back of my unit. They rifled through all the cabinets to find almost nothing of any value because we had cleaned it out for the winter. They did more damage than theft.
Items taken: Autometer Tach w/shift light and the top of the dashboard, 4-6 red folding chairs, 2 new yellow tie down straps, 4 rolls of racer tape, the cold air intake from the 223 car, an light weight Odyssey battery.
Not much when you consider they could have taken the car. The thing that pisses me off most is they "folded" the hood in half, wrecked the rear trailer door cable assembly and took the top of the dash center.
I hope they're not coming back fro more, because theres nothing left to take. We just put new, tougher locks on the door and hope these a**holes move on to some other neighbourhood. I hope it's not yours.

Thanks Hanif. They also smashed out the rear glass of our Honda shell sitting outside for something to do I guess.

I know the feeling last year My 45 foot trailer was removed from its "safe" parking spot . I thought it had been disabled enough but I was incorrect . It was full of shop stuff 2 snowmobiles a very fresh 350 engine from a late model staockcar 5 pop machines . The list goes on to the tune of about $60,000 . It was mobile so the insurance was approx 10% of the inventory to which I declined . Needless to say this was a major setback emotionally as well as financially .
I didn't write this to upstage your breakin only to point out that there are scumbags all over the place ready and willing to take anything . They scout around while we are working and work while we are away or asleep .
I have tried to find safe storage for my racecar, trailer and summer car but because of last year and the fact I have only just found theft insurance for the racer they sit on my property beside my house covered by tarps and gaurded by my 3 dogs and a time lapse video camera .

FWIW, its pretty easy and inexpensive to put an alarm on a trailer. It may not do much to stop a pro, but it could deter your typical crackhead looking for stuff to sell.
