Would YOU like to try driving that car next time?
I'll let anyone drive it. In fact we were going to have more people driving it on sunday, but we're only allowed 3.
Edit: Besides, I reached my goal. Whenever I'm in a car that's not competitive, my goal is to be "Not Last". And I acomplished that.

If we had fun runs, I'd be game to try out the MR2 Racer... After seeing how close some of the other EOD driver came to the times of the AWD cars it would be interesting to see how much skill vs. how much AWD advantage is the result of my times. Swapping cars can also determine how much of this is tire choice too. Cuz I know in the dry events last season my Hakka 2's were terrible and the edges were really beat.

Wow Lots of people.. And I see a Reliant in there!!! Alright!!!!
Can't wait for the next one... :):)
I'm glad I wasn't trying to go fast. I had much more fun screwing around with the "drift handle". :D
I know that sounds like I'm making excuses for sucking, but I'm not. Really.

That's because you have winter tires in the front and "no seasons" in the rear!
It was fun getting a ride in your car :D
but I wouldn't want that set up for the street :(

Yes, this the first time Opal has beaten me and i'm sure it won't be the last.
It looks like I taught her well :p
Now I have to start listening to my own advice

Wedge, repeat after me "WELDED DIFF"!
I don't think I can remember more than a second or two your car wasn't doing the 'one-wheeler-peeler'.

Yeah I know. But that'll be a major PITA. I already spent more time and money on that car than I wanted to. That thing is litteraly a racing "beater". I've got a rally car and a dedicated solo 2 car which I'm trying to focus my efforts on.

I rode along in the Reliant... it had a neat little trick; a hole in the firewall/lack of floor in the driver's footwell. I could actually hear the moment that the left front tire started to lose grip, when there was snow under his tire, or when it was just pure ice. :D
I think a lot of people will pick up time at their next ice event. I noticed people late-apexing the "curve of death"... waiting until they were on the ice until they initiated their turn. Obviously it was best to get the wheels pointed at the inner cone before leaving the snow.
I'm looking forward to another one like that!

Your sick!
I too wouldn't wish for another free skate event. Maybe she isn't sick, but she does have "issues" ;)
Big "props" to Opal for smoking the competition. She has found her stride. Finese paid off big.
I'm pretending that I slept through the day. That was my twin brother who's never driven there that day. :(

Free skate event??? One pure ice corner doesn't turn it into the winter olympics. Slowpoke was right about people taking the corner wrong. I tried getting off the racing line and cut in shallow and REALLY slow, but there was still too much steering input required and that made for a fun combination of power oversteer and handbrakes. After some conversations, I entered in really wide and turned in on the snowy parts with smaller inputs over a longer area and didn't come close to the row pylons on the other side. This meant you were early apexing a late apex gate after the corner, but atleast there was grip there to recover the race line. Proper racing lines mean nothing if you can't stay on them.
And until the bottow layer of ice melts off, it will always get icy in subsequent runs as we brush the snowy top layer off... we can just hope for more to start with so it can last longer.

I too want more events like that ... it would give me something to learn more on
Haha, I'm hoping for slush personally. Thick, heavy, wet, sloppy slush. Six inches of it. The kind that makes your pants wet to the knees when you're out marshalling.
Bring it on!

I can't wait until the next event. Other than the corner of death the rest of the track was pretty resonable.
But with this being my first time competing in these events, I can' t wait to get a dry track!!!!
