The .pdf and HTML versions of the Solo1 schedule at www.soloontario.com have a number of differences. Some dates are different, for the same dates some locations are different, and the .pdf has some Friday lapping but the HTML does not.

Which is (now) correct?

TIA

I can't see the .PDF you are refering to - it may have been a draft based on last year's schedule.

Regardless, the HTML page is correct. Solo Ontario is not sanctioning any Friday lapping days - the tracks are asking too much money for them to make it worthwhile.

So lock in those summer dates! Tell your best friend they cannot get married on the planned weekend because you'll be busy racing!

See you at the Open House!

"because you'll be busy racing!"

You must mean - "because you'll be busy competetive driving!"

No racing in Solo - just fast - fast driving, to keep it technically correct :-)

Craig, I believe the discrepencies you're seeing are due to the .pdf file being from last season.

HADA is having 2 lapping evenings and possibly a full lapping day this summer, all on Fridays before Solo 1 weekends. Check it out at http://www.hadamotorsport.com/events We're hosting two lapping evenings this coming season, the first on June 14th at Shannonville before Events #3 an #4 of the Solo 1 championship, and the second also at Shannonville before events #9 and #10 of the Solo 1 championship. We're also likely holding a full lapping day at Cayuga on Friday July 26th before events #7 and 8 of the Solo 1 championship, although this lapping day isn't written in stone yet.

OMSC is having a lapping day/Ian Law Driving School at Mosport DDT track on April 20th.

These are the only Solo 1 club organized lapping days that I know of for 2002 thus far. TAC and BAC may have plans to host lapping days as well and I just don't know about it yet is all.

We'll have registration forms for all our lapping days at the Solo Open house in April or you can e-mail me a info@hadamotorsport.com and I'll send you the forms electronically.

Cheers,
Dave

If you click on "info" off the main page, then it shows you links to pdf's of the 2002 School Registration Form, the 2002 Schedule (wrong one) and the 2002 CASC license application.

Unfortunately, I don't know how many Solo1's I'll be able to make it to, if any, this year. I'm scrutineering the MCO Solo2 series, so I have to go to all of those, which takes up quite a few weekends, but more importantly, deciding to run in the Targa Newfoundland (www.targanewfoundland.com) has put a serious financial crimp on whatever else I'll want to do - so I can't afford (in time but especially money) to run the full Solo1 season this year. Next year. :D

I'd also like to keep my rookie status until I can run a full Solo1 season. Since I've done one Solo1 (back in 98), plus I'll be doing the Targa (a stage rally), that means I can do one event this year and keep my rookie status for 2003. That one event will be either a CASC Solo1, a hillclimb with the New England Hillclimb association (www.hillclimb.org or .com, I can't remember), a road race, or a Porsche Club race. Choices, choices.

OTOH, I can give in to reality and decide I will be woefully uncompetitive even in the rookie class (I know I'll be woefully uncompetitive in the "regular" classes) and run whatever I can afford to do, which probably works out to a couple weekends of Solo1, plus a hillclimb, maybe two.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Craig, I think you can run 3 Solo 1 events without losing your rookie status and it doesn't matter if you've run other events like Solo 2, hill climbs, rallies, etc. Or at least that's my understanding of the rookie rule. That being said, I wouldn't worry too much about the rookie thing. Solo 1 is a competitive series but first and foremost it's about having fun. If you can spare the time and money we'd love to see you out on the track with us and I guarantee you'll enjoy yourself.

Best of luck with the rally out east,

Dave

The (2001) rule is "To be considered a Solo1 rookie, a competitor must not have competed in more than 3 Solo 1, stage rally, race, ice races or equivalent events, or be a Solo 2 past Overall Champion prior to the start of the current championship."

The sentence is ambiguous, and has grammatical errors that make multiple interpretations possible. I chose the most conservative one, three of all the types of events combined. The most liberal interpretation is that one can do 3 of each kind of event and remain a rookie, i.e., someone who has done 3 Solo1 and 3 stage rallies and 3 races and 3 "ice races or equivalent events" is a rookie. There are also a bunch in between.

Wrong forum to bring this up, but I'll wait and see what the 2002 rules say.

Sorry about the confusion. Sometimes those little pdf files slip by and you forget to change them all.
The 2002 Official Schedule is up now.

I should have all the registration forms etc up by tomorrow night.
