Been thinking about tire selection,my choices come down to the 215-50-13 v710 versus the ecsta 700 in the 235-45-13.
For those guys that tried the 710's last summer how's you like them?,how'd they heat cycle?buy them again?.

I want to get in on the gracious wtz r-tire offer so anyones thoughts are welcome.

come on, me too... Mikey, how did you like them compared to your victoracers? who else ran them? Pat Y?

I drove what may arguably be last season's fastest Subie with 710's at a WOSCA event for a fun run and could not believe the stick!!!

I think this tire's gonna be huge this year... I'll save my RA1's for the rain...

ALL AWD cars grip like that.... in a straight line!

depending on how good the price is, i might be in for a set of 4 v710's as well (225/45/13 or 235/45/13).

i'd also love to hear ppl'z feedback for us small wheel'd folk.

big ups to WTZ for doing this

Sure they do in a straight line miataboi, Mikey's is the only one I've autocrossed that I can throw into a corner nearly as effortlessly as my car, they are very heavy... RS rawks!

i liked the tire alot and will be running them for sure next year.
i went from a 225-50/ 15 victoracer to a 205-50 /15 v710, and i felt the car handle better with the second set. even with the lack of tread, i also found them to be better in the rain then the victoracers(Andrew showed us how well they worked in the rain when he set that illegal FTD at a TLMC event in the rain, he got everyone by over 2 seconds (i think) in the pouring rain)
this is my first year on R's so i don't have any other tires under my belt to compare them too.

Pat Yorke has used all 3 Kumhos and the Hoosiers and loved the 710's. Maybe someone can email him for a better report from him.

From what I've heard

Raw Grip (straighline):
1: 710
2: Ecsta
3: Victoracer

Side wall stiffness:
1: Victoracer
2: 710
3: Ecsta

That's coming from someone who runs Hoosiers. So the 710's MUST be good~!

We ran the 215/50/13 Ecsta 700's last year and found them to be a great overall performer. We had been running a set of (old compound) 205/50/15 front & 225/50/15 rear the previous 2 years- yes, they lasted that long!! The negative feedback we were reading on the new compound chunking badly and wearing prematurely have not materialized for us. We can probably run another complete season on last years tires.

it's my understanding that you won't be able to do much track stuff with v710's as they are too soft... they are really just an autox tire

Bill your too funny!;)

I have no idea yet how competitive I'll be but I WILL be giving it all I have-if 2nd is the best I can do than so be it(yeah right!).I'll have to find the power wire to that fancy smancy electric supercharger to keep things close.

Before you reinstall that mirror you should consider its weight and its impact on your CG!

If you are looking for a tire that will last a long time you need to compromise a bit. The Victoracers will last about that long and have no tire left. They will also give you much faster run times.
You could use Azenas, they will probably last longer than than the RA1 and be slower yet.
If you want the fastest possible solo2 times you run Hoosiers or 710s & you buy something else for the track.
You need to decide if and where you will compromise.

My concern isn't how many events untill they cord, more like how many events before they run outa grip.
