hey guys,

i was wondering, is it unsafe to have passengers in the back seat of the car if a roll bar is in place...
they would physically be able to fit back there, but in the event of an accident, they might potentially slam into the bar itself...

also, its it mandatory to have racing harnesses if there is a roll bar installed?

If the roll bar fits nice and snug up against the roof and the cross member is removable, then I think the risk to passengers in the rear seat would be minimal as long as they're wearing a seat belt. Covering the rollbar with high impact foam would be a good idea too IMO. But without a removable cross member on the main hoop of the roll bar, I wouldn't ride in the back seat nor would I suggest you allow anyone back there. Too high a risk of smashing their head on the cross bar IMO.

The only classes that requires a racing harness are Modified and Open Mod. Cars in any other class can run a standard factory 3-point belt, regardless of whether or not they've equipped the car with a roll bar or not.

Now, if you install a full roll cage, then you must meet CASC-OR 'Appendix O' regs which includes a 5 or 6-point harness, SA-rated helmet, etc.
