I found out the hard way how deep the rut was at the end of turn 1 -- dented oil pan = oil starvation = many unhappy noises from my '90 Civic SI..
If anyone has a 1989 to 2000 D15 or D16 shortblock, or even a longblock kicking around, please let me know.
Thanks!

Interested in an Integra ZC Motor New 1.6 DOHC 140 hp? It's now in an 88 Integra. Car is solid and runs great. Solid rear axle in this chassis!
Asking $1500 for complete car.

Sorry I missed you on Saturday. I had brought the wrong clutch as well - Doh!. I see you have the rare 1.6 SOHC ZC in that car. How is it? Watched you in your classes and you seemed run well. Especially in the 2wd studded class. Too bad your tires weren't legal as it would have nice to see exactly how the civic measures up.
I have an 88 Integra LS with the DOHC Integra ZC motor. Extremely rare as Civic DOHC ZC Motors are out there but not this one. It was only in the early tegs. I just completely rebuilt this motor. I took out the race clutch as it was too agressive for the street especially with the 8 puck ceramic disc. There is NO lost time when shifting with this set up. It's just hookup and go! I noticed when you were running studs that in third gear you had the clutch slipping big time. It's probably happening in first and second to. Consider changing it for next year. If running in the studded class and I think you will it will bring down your lap times and help you win.
My thoughts were to run the 88 teg next year but only in the stud class. My racing friends out there suggested i try rubber for a couple of seasons first. I have a 90 corolla wagon awd so I will probably run it next year.
I won't be up for the rest of the season but if you are interested in the clutch let me know and I will hook up with you somehow.
Jeff:)

I think we met first or second weekend down near Kiyo's pit? I'd definately suggest a season in rubber, then up to street studs, then jump into the racing studs..
I'm definately interested in the upgraded clutch before I get into studs more seriously -- probably not this season though, as I don't feel like swapping the clutch at the track, and the car is pretty bent up from a last-lap moment of brain fade last weekend.
I didn't notice my clutch slipping this weekend.. (Last weekend, absolutely.) Were you watching this weekend near the straight or the kink where I would have been in third gear?
My email is lee at rim dot net -- drop me a note and we'll discuss the clutch in more detail.

Hi Lee,
Yes we did meet first day of racing. Yes I am with kiyo's gang. Doug in the 323 GTX is a good friend.
I was watching you in the studded class fro the beginning of the straightaway. I could hear the revs go high shifting into third then bog. You have a firly powerful motor now and a stock clutch. Although it's new it will slip using studs if speed shifting. On the street the only method I found to avoid this was by using a pressure plate with much higher clamping force (200%). Then using a fibre disc (stock) made the engagement bearable and not too agressive on the driveline. With the ceramic disc there is no slippage. BUT it's just too much on the pavement unless the car is for track only.

So we're KIYO'S GANG now are we? LOL always wanted to be in a GANG

Lee..i was standing right beside Jeff...we were listening to your car go down the straight and we both looked at eachother and said your clutch was slipping

Hmph... Kinda surprised that it's slipping, rather than the engine bogging.. Gotta love the JDM power. :) However, the clutch was from Canadian Tire, and had not even a full weekend on it.. So I'm not really surprised.. Perhaps it'll get better once it's broken in... ...even if it doesn't, as long as it lasts til the end of the season. :)

OK Lee be careful with shot at CTC as I work for their head office in the automotive dept!!!
LOL
:)
However you made an error by not breaking in that clutch! You have a new Fenco Dynopak I think? which is a decent unit. BUT all clutches need break in period of 200-500 kms soooffffftttt shifting!
And yes you have a very new motor with decent HP. I'm thinking 120-130 ish. Plus you had studs on and that is what is causing the slipping. It would happen with any stock clutch.

Break in? Bah.. I doubt I could boot around on the streets for much more than 20km without being asked to step out of the car.. :)
Apparently the SOHC ZC is 118 horsepower. It's essentially an A6, but with a lumpier cam and slightly higher compression.

7?? I think there is only 5 of us so that would make you 6 wouldn't it?

And you have a header open exhaust and if you need a CAI let me know. total you are about 125+ hp. Lighten the flywheel will help to.
