View Full Version : Neon Classification....

Hey all. I read through the rulebook, but wanted to clarify some things regarding the classification of my Neon. I'll be running a 2.4 Turbo motor that is for all 'practical' intents and purposes is an SRT engine/turbo/intercooler swap controlled by a standalone. What's different is that it is a Stratus block with SRT internals. (different cranktrigger, no oil piston squirters, different oil filter location, Neon intake manifold). I don't expect that this falls under update/backdate as the SRT chassis is significantly different than my 1st generation Neon.

My question is: Is the engine seen as a swap (stratus) + turbo? A straight swap (SRT?)
A stroked 2.0 with turbo? (I think that would hurt my classing the most....)

Other relevant mods: springs, rear sway, poly bushings (or spherical bearings if I can source them..) and r-compounds. Maybe a LSD if I get one in time. The head is ported from it's all-motor days, but I don't expect that to help power much with such a small turbo.

I know the car won't be taking full advantage of the rules in any way, and it wasn't really built to do so, so feel free to comment.

Thanks,

Nathan

You need to examine the rules for D-mod, cuz that's where you'll end up.

Looks like Tom has someone to play with now :)

Nathan, hybrid engine swap = mod class.

Good luck!

:D I'm looking forward to having it done. It's not as expensive as it sounds though: everyone with an SRT seems to be dying to lose all the stock stuff.;) Power hungry fiends, I tell ya! Even with the stock stuff I'll be using, I expect the car won't be able to
effectively use the power for SOLO2. I don't expect it to help me too much, to be honest.....
Would you believe a brand new bottom end (forged rods, decent low compression pistons) can be had for under $300CAD from the dealer?

Between the FFR's and your Corolla and who knows what else, I think we'll have a blast!

Something may be weird with the PM engine. I just got a notice today that I received a PM.

Turns out Marsh sent it to me back in October.
