re: 2002 classification of nissan 240sx

dave...was my car reclassified? it looks as though its now B3?

why?

i have been in csp for years

i looked at the rules and...i went thru the numbers...no way it should be in B class
1989 240sx sohc 2.4l (2389cc's stock!!!)
weight 2700lbs...no where near 2900
HP 140 TORQUE 155 (FROM OWNERS MANUAL) (the newer models with the dohc motor had a little more power)
it should be either sport compact or sport economy

handling= 55 (took same as 240z)
hp= (140-50)/(550-50)=90/500 =18%
hp to weight= 19.29
tq to weight= 17.41

so.....
hp=7.2
handling=16.5
hp to weight=3.86
tq to weight =1.74
(is my math correct?) this equals=29.30%
which would 100% put this car into C3 BUY A MARGIN OF 7.8%

well i actually might even have 2 spare points..since i put in my stock camshaft for turbo use.... :) 1 point is not gonna do me any good

thanks for looking into this dave....i know a nissan 240sx is not on the same level as bmw's..or let alone turbo talons( the talons against a stock 240sx would kill the 240sx no prob along with most of those B cars)....plus i have been against the C class cars now for 3 years and...this year i would have the best chance at being competitive..and now i get switched against even more powerfull cars.... :(

anyway as far as i can see it was classed wrong...

whewww..ok got that off my chest...

plus i really wanted to pound on rob and you this summer :) since CSP is by far going to be the fastest and most competitive class in solo 1..that i can see anyway...maybe the vettes will also have a good showing this year as well..

Adam, I just got a response from Chris Sorensen, our spreadsheet guru, and apparently what happened is that your gen of 240sx got accidentally shuffled up to B-family during our 'Sports Coupe' reorganization. Sorry for the stress, you're still a C-family guy.

However, according to Christian's calculations your car is still a C2 root class offering. Don't forget, we use the "best" (in terms of the indexing system) model variant for each engine config. to determine classification. The 1990 SE Fastback model (SOHC) indexes out at 40.7. That is above the 37.1 C2/C3 breakpoint. The DOHC-engined cars come out to 43.0 for the '93 model.
