Hello Everyone,

I'd like to proudly announce the CASC-OR Solo II Team Championship Challenge. The rules for the first year of starting this championship will be supplementary to the CASC-OR solo 2 rulebook. The following link is to the challenge's rules and regulations. I will post the registration form later today for those that want to start getting their teams organized. I'd like to thank Wes Tanney and Tony Kloosterman for their help and support in writing these rules.

Anyways, without further ado here are the rules:

CASC-OR Solo II Team Championship Rules (http://www.drummondmotorsports.com/docs/Ontario_Team_Challenge.doc)

Regards,

Jason Drummond

As per Finboy :p adding the registration stuff to this post see below:

hello everyone,

here is the registration form. This can be filled out and emailed to me by the team captain, I'll make sure to have them at the open house if they are emailed to me no later then april 1st 2005. This allows you to make it really easy on the day of the open house, you walk in, you pay registration fee, have your team sign the registration form and your all done. This will also allow me to have a look at how many teams there might be for the series.

Registration form (http://www.drummondmotorsports.com/docs/Team_reg_form.doc)

I can be emailed at jason.drummond[remove this blah blah]@bell.ca

regards,

Jason.

7. The CASC-OR Solo 2 Committee will determine the eligibility of the team during registration.

Isn't this a bit arbitrary? at the solo 2 workshop you had preliminary rules to govern this, now without rules, how do we know what is allowed as a team???

I would hate to register for a team, and then later find out that we can't do it, and having turned down other team possibilities.

basically that rule is there for a certain type of situation.

you can team up with anyone you want too provided..

1) they are not on other teams

2) you have 4 people

that rule is there so that if persons 1, 2, 3, and 4 form team A then persons 4, 5, 6, 7 cannot form team B because person 4 is already on Team A.

Other then that it's open. This is because it's based on overall results which are PAX and only 1 person per event will score 100 points for that event we don't have to worry about points from last year being used to even out the teams.

finboy

registration deadline?

scoring individual paxed against everyone right?

gatherer
03-06-2005, 02:23 PM
reg deadline is in the rules before the start of the second event

yes scores as such...

for event 1 the overall results (for event 1) are published by Wes. The overall this year is determined by PAX so everyone will be PAXed against everyone else.

I take all individual scores for each member of a team and add them all together. This becomes the Team's Event 1 score.

the is repeated of all the events

then I take all 10 events and I find the best 6 scores for each team. I add those together to form the Team's overall score. Team with the highest overall score wins. and so on.

I pick Pat Yorke,Stephen Tong and Bill Rogerson(I assume Tony K and JoeT are sticking with sube guys)to join me for a team.;)

I think that's pretty gutsy picking with 3 of the 4 in mod classes.:)

A team of say H stock guy's would be a pax monster.:(

Hmmm - maybe I should keep the H-stock beater :)

I have a line on some Koni yellows that should calm some of the suspension movements, then maybe a drop-in filter, cat back exhaust, fresh bushings, replacement clutch....

I can already feel my walllet begin to lighten... That doesn't cost a point does it? :D

If you believe that 4 h-stock guys would clean up... it means a lot of things.... 1) that H-stock pax is WHACK. It may change for '05 remember.

secondly... that the top 4 guys will ALL be in h-stock? that's not giving the other classes much credit... and assumes no tight corners or long straights!

That team would NOT win... nor would any team with 3 mod-cars.

Oops...I've already said too much.......

Miataboi I stand corrected, for kicks I took 3 random events from 2004 to compare paxed times.DS and GS come out way ahead after corrected.
For example-CM paxed to 49.617,ESP paxed to 46.175,CSS to 44.391,GS 42.552,HS 44.833.
2nd event,CM 42.906,DSS 40.385,ESP 41.647,DS 40.177,GS 40.186,HS 41.235.
3rd event,CM 42.854,ESP 42.814,DS 41.859,GS40.186,HS 41.235

Your right that 3 or 4 mod guys would have nearly 0 chance-hence my comment on the gutsy pick thing;)(would be nice to have the fastest outright team though)

A team made up with 4 guys in stock or nearly stock classes would certainly seem to have an advantage.I'm not saying anything about changing pax etc, could care less really(I all I care about is winning my class)there's good drivers in every class but once your allowed tons of mods the variables about chassis set-up,engine power, tire choice and driver ability to wring out every last bit out of those mods goes up with it.
The faster the car the more knife edged driving it becomes, most lots aren't real smooth so stock can be more forgiving for sure.

But I don't remember seeing that it's changing throughout the season.

Yeah man... WTF?

You can't really arbitrarily change pax throughout the year / or per event!!!

That's just ASKING for more B.S. - and hell... I'll be the first!

You guys confused the hell outta me... both you and Ryan's last posts....

I think the values may change... but once they're set... they're set for '05... unless there's an OBVIOUS / GROSS error with a class... but I doubt that'll be the case... only relatively minor tweaks with a couple of exceptions that needed addressing from last year... is my guess.

Can anyone clarify? Do you guys know something about how PAX will work in '05 that I dont?

MiataBoi,

I took another look (just for you) and the PAX is used in the same way as last year just different numbers (no major drastic changes and based on the work done by a few people) Anyways it says at the numbers that it's governed by section 5.5.A

5.5.A

A. Overall Championship Points Formula

The CASC-OR PAX factoring system shall be used to determine overall event scores for all competitors. 100.0 points will be awarded for first place overall finisher. The intent of the PAX is to allow competitors all competitors to be scored against each other based on an indexed handicap. Each event will have an event Pax factor calculated from the average "fastest factored" time. All other competitors will then be factored relative to event pax.

Decimals will be rounded off to three (3) places. A Competitor recording a D.N.F. for an event will not be scored.

The PAX index shall be published at the beginning of each competition year as extrapolated from SCCA National PAX index with adjustments for Super Stock category and adjusted based on past results from Canadian Competition; see Section 7.5 for current PAX numbers. This index shall be reviewed regularly and changed at the CASC-OR Solo 2 Directors discretion. No competitor in any situation will receive more than 100 points.

Now that basically states how it was done. I think the line that reads " this index shall be reviewed regularly and changed at the CASC-OR solo 2 director's discertion." is the line that would allow event by event PAX. however that third paragraph was in section 5.5.B for the 2004 rule book and we didn't see any changes in PAX. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

Disclaimer: Please note I am quoting for a provisional rule book. the rules quoted may or may not be included in the rule book.

Anyways I hope that clears it up.

The reason I don't mind this team thing... is that it really won't change how you drive... as it's just balls-deep - all-out... and whatever ends up happening with the team thing afterwards... is a footnote.

It also rewards the team that's the best... on the same days... no use with one being bad on any given day... so it's the team that ALL goes to bed early, together... so to speak.

Stephen, Wes , Ralph and Marshall on a team that would be something. but at the same time Pax has changed (which changes the order, of which I've seen the different order same top 10 just different placing) And Ralph's car has been re-classed for the stock classes in 2005... I'm sure he'll be just as fast but he'll have a different PAX number to contend with.

JD,

Is there a registration deadline? I'm not sure if my entire team can make it to the open house......

in the rules I put a cut off of the first run of the second event. makes my life easier if I don't have to dig through past events every time a new team signs up.

also so long as they are series registered they don't have to be there to hand in the form for the team championship. just need the team captian.

i was going to, things didnt work out w/ the car. the dss car at least has a proper suspension this year, so i think it, and I, will do much, much better.
