Which club around the Toronto area has the largest lot or perhaps more importantly, the most flowing and open courses? Which site is considered the best by locals?
Thanks,

It must be the Hershey Centre....everyone wants to use it ;)
I'll second the vote for Bronte Go Station in Oakville, it's probably the largest GTA lot currently in use.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses. I'm hoping to make it out to some events when my car gets here from Vancouver. Should be fun to try out the region as a novice ;)

I believe Taylor is referring to that fact that the DDT is a makeshift AutoX course.

And which beast is it that's coming here from Vancouver? Is it the Porsche or the Eagle?

I'm bringing the 911. The Eagle has been parked since the Knox Mountain Hillclimb in 2002.

That car is the scariest car I have ever raced. It doesnt turn, it doesn't stop, but it accelerates like nothing else. Even with Wilwood calipers, roll cage and big fat Kumhos, the car just can't cope with the 475hp engine. It feels very unbalanced in terms of overall ability.
The good thing is, the engine is so strong and so reliable that it carries the car well beyond its competition, just get it through the corner somehow, point it down the straight and hammer the throttle. The AWD and the aftermarket centre diff help put down almost all of the power. It's quite the wild ride, but I much prefer the 993 Turbo for overall ability and ease of attaining good laps.
Here's a video of me driving it up Knox Mountain in Kelowna: http://www.vcmc.ca/videos/farzaan_talon_knox.wmv This was a 2:03.9 run, a new class record in SP2 that year. This was our first race after building the car. When we got back home, we realized that squealing noise was the caliper TOUCHING the wheel because the Wilwood kit was assembled wrong from the manufacturer and it had loosened off the spacer!!!

Hey Farz!
Are you coming out to Red Deer for the Nationals this year? I'm sure we could get a car for you to drive if you want to fly out.......and as you know it is a large lot - about 1300' wide and about 574 ft. deep at their respective largest dimensions.
I'm thinking this year we will have the pits/parking outside the lot with only grid/pre-grid in the lot so that we can make even more use of the lot for the course!

Yes, I still remember speaking with you briefly although I did not have a whole lot of time.
But, speaking of remembering the courses, do you mind if I ask why you remember the courses? I find that a curious and interesting comment. What made them different or why do you figure that is?

thats a good question I have no Idea... I figured at first it was just the sheer lack of events I had done... after my first season I could still recall with detail the course at woodstock where I first ran.
some of my first times I don't remember like my first event at Bronte Go station. it was my second event ever but it just can't recall it. I think as I do more events in the same place the courses just don't stay with me. now that I'm entering my thrid season of dodging cones, I can't recall many WOSCA course designs they sort of blend together. Where as the courses for the last Ottawa events I only ran those 2 days ever at the corel center and I can probably recreate the cone layout with some serious accuracy...same with the westner fair grounds only course I can't recall is the test and tune day. but I think thats because on the day1 and day 2 of the event I was so focused after each run at figuring out where I screwed up that I'd go over the course many times in my head to try and figure out a faster line. I think that process helps imprinting of the course.
at least thats the way I see it.

Ah, that makes sense to me.
Certainly, others from our region were also focusing like I had never seen before at the '03 Nats. It was like there was much more at stake. The pressure to perform was certainly much more than I had seen on the Prairies before.
This year, I think it will be even more intense. IMHO. :^)
Great fun.
