Well, after feed back at the National level and feed back from the Regional level, the CASC-OR 2005 Solo 2 Rule Book is finally ready for public consumption.

The rule book is available on the Solo2Ontario web site. Follow the link to the CASC-OR 2005 Solo 2 Rule Book (http://www.solo2ontario.com/info/documents/CASC-OR-2005-Rulebook-Final.pdf).

Now this is just a reminder that the printed version, that will be available at the Open House this Sunday is THE Solo 2 bible for Ontario and the printed version will take precedence over the pdf version.

I also need to remind all clubs that host Solo 2 events in Ontario under the CASC-OR/ASN banner MUST comply with sections 1 though 4 of the CASC-OR 2005 Rule Book.

Also available on the Solo2Ontario web site is the CASC-OR 2005 Mobil 1 Autoslalom Championship Series Sponsored by Inside Track Motorsport News Prep Point Schedule. Follow the link to the CASC-OR 2005 Solo II Series Prep Point Schedule (http://www.solo2ontario.com/info/documents/CASC-OR%202005%20Solo%20II%20Series%20Prep%20Point%20Schedule.pdf).

And finally, the CASC-OR Solo II Safety Check List is available, to make sure you vehicles are up to the task. Follow the link to the CASC-OR Solo II Safety Check List (http://www.solo2ontario.com/info/documents/2005%20Solo%202%20Safety%20Checklist.pdf)

Also a reminder of the SoloOntario Open House that is taking place this weekend, Sunday, April 3rd from 1 - 4 pm where you can sign up for the CASC-OR 2005 Mobil 1 Autoslalom Championship Series Sponsored by Inside Track Motorsport News and the CASC-OR Mobil 1 2005 Solo 1 Championship Series.

We will hopefully see everyone there.

So does this mean that there will be official scrutineering going on this year? Or is it still the drivers responsibility?

Also, the part in there about tires not interfering with body or fenders... Is a minor amount of rubbing acceptable? My car last year would rub pretty bad in the front at full lock, and in the rear under compression. Hopefully I won't have that problem this year though...

It is ALWAYS the drivers responsibility to make sure the car is safe and operating properly.

A tire rubbing any part of the body work or inner wheel well liners would render the car illegal for street use and thus should never happen on a street driven car.

If there is a rub with any metal part of the car or some none metal materials, it could be a serious safety issue and should not be allowed.

I agree, and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I was just wondering if there was going to be an official tech inspection?

If I say yes, will you do anything different when prepping your car? :)

There has not been any offical decision as to mandatory "scrutineering". If there is scrutineering at a specific event, you will be notified of the specifics during registration.

There will more than likely be a hoods up policy for competitors to look (but not touch), for self policing.

Hmmm, maybe I can help you with that Wes... (getting people to pop the hoods)

I have my aluminum bat around here somewhere...

I suppose not. Especially since I'm stock this year.

I do like that hoods up idea. That'll keep everybody honest for sure. Not that anybody here needs any policing.

Question about the new Saftey Checklist.

The checklist specifically asks for a check that the pads are greater than 50% and the fluids have been changed in the last 6 months.

Section 4.10.C.i talks generally about the required condition of the brake system but does not talk about the amount of pad material or when the fluids were changed.

Is a pass of the checklist required for a car to be eligible to run? Seems a little stiff.

It's a "Safety Check List", not a scrutineering form. This is there ultimately for the newby that may or may not know the first thing about cars and possibly nothing about safety while competing.

If it is noticed that there is next to no brake material left (I.e. down to the rivets), then no it is not safe to run. If you read the top it says that these items have been "recently" check by a knowledgeable mechanic.

Do we fill out the Prep Point schedule at the open house or is just a guideline?
