I read recently that some of the new Khumo Ecstas have delaminated after only a few laps. Has anyone else heard of this?

I also read that when they hold together they are fast, very fast.

Brent , I know the old victoracers could develop big splits in the belts that look like they are delaminating but they actually didn't . I have heard the opposite about speed though as concerns the Ecsta . Apparently they are greasy until they are warmed up which means they do not make a good Solo 2 tire but are great when warm . They are significantly lighter than victoracers and a bit softer compound which means they may be able to run with the Hoosiers . I plan on getting a set of Ecstas this year .

ah I read this right before putting in my order for some kumhos. I'm in between deciding right now and the esta are not good for solo 2? What is cheap tire that's good for solo 2 then? How about the falken fk451?

Mito , you might try the Kumho Victoracers which I believe don't need to be as warm as the Ecstas

Jen, I didn't know your were getting stickys? (you did realize they were talking about the new Ecsta R-compound right?)

I'm risking the Ecsta, but not because I think they will be faster. The new Ecsta come in 225/45-15, wich is like running a final drive for me. I'm hoping it will be worth a little greasyness.

I am going to buy the Ecstas, I don't think 5 laps in a row for Solo1 is enough to hurt any tire. The reports I heard were from somebody who does road racing. The failures may have been caused by overinflation, so I am not worried. I think that by being sticky, light and wider (225/45-15, for my car) they will be faster. I know my Victoracers were almost a second faster than my Toyos.
