Hello everyone,

I just want to let everyone know that this year I will be providing you all with the ability to record your trails on video. I will be offering 1 or 2 camera setups that can be mounted virtually any where on the car (in & out). For a 2 camera setup, I will be using a Picture-in-Picture video processor that will allow you to record both camera angles on one screen. Also, if there is enough interest I can obtain a data overlay device that would display Speed (Updates every Second, indicates avg speed for previous second), Lateral (Cornering) G-Forces , Acceleration & Braking G's, Last Lap Number & Time, Current Lap Time & Relative Difference from Fastest Lap, Date & Time of Day. After the event I would provide the driver with a copy of their run on CD that they can watch on a computer or DVD. The videos can not only be seen as "look what I did" but as an educational learning tool of how to improve driver skills. I have included 2 pictures of how videos would look like.

As I'm going to be participating in the Solo II events, would start there and see how much interest there is for this service, before offering it at more events as Solo I. I don't have a firm price set for solo II yet, but was thinking around;
1 camera = $25/run
2 cameras with pnp = $35/run
Data overlay + $10
I will provide you with a CD with the RAW video in Divx Mpeg4 that you can view on your computer or DVD Player (if it supports Divx)

The equipment I use is the same that I sell on my web site;
Cameras = Sony 480 TV line HAD Ex-View
DVR/PVR = Archos AV420 (or Panasonic AV100 maybe)
Video processor = View-2 PNP
Data Overlay = G-Box

Please let me know if anyone is interested..

Thanks,
Adam

So if i wanted to do the whole day its gonna cost welll over $200????????????

I think its a great idea, but, you may just have priced yourself out of the market.

My opinion for what it's worth.

well if you're a "pro" then selling the CD/video copies to newbies like me so we could learn from your (or whoever's) technique could offset/profit from the cost :D hehehe :p

Tony, do you have any suggestions?

How does this sound;

1 cam = $25 1st run , $10 each run after 1st
2 cams wpnp = $35 1st run, $15 each run after 1st
Data overlay + $10 1st run, $5 each run after 1st

Thanks,
Adam

PS the video is a great idea, one of my customers is currently making a movie out of his video footage (non educational). Should be out in the next couple of months. Here's shot from the video... and yes that is a skidoo.

I think it’s a great idea.
Hope it works out for you and you eventually expand to Solo 1.
How much equipment do you have?
How many cars car you equip in the same day?

I am sure not everyone would necessary need or want every run taped.

Well for Solo I, even though I wont be participating I can always come out if there is interest. Maybe I can come out to the first one, and draw for a free video? How does the day break up on the track and how long is each run and how many runs can you expect?

I have 2 recording units, 1 pnp video processor and 0 G-box. Is the G-box something that you think would benefit the video and experience? If so I'll order one ASAP, but I really don't want to spend the investment if no one will use it. So I can equip 2 cars at the same time. It would take me about 5-10mis to out fit a car, after the car gets back, the equipment is ready to go on another car.

Thanks,
Adam

You have some choices on the different pieces of the puzzle;

Cameras

iclops original = $300
iclops mini = $350

both cameras offer the same image sensor 480 TV line Sony HAD Ex-view, the only difference between the 2 is that the mini is 20% smaller, 30% lighter & you can get wet. Also the mini can be out fitted with a protective casing so rocks don't crackthe lens.

Recording devices

Any camcorder with AV in = ???
Archos AV420 = $650
Panasonic AV100 = $999 + $100 for the 1Gig SD card

Camcorder will give you 1hr of recording time at 720x480
AV420 will give you upto 15-20hrs of recording time at 512x384
av100 will give you 22mins at 720x480

Picture in Picture video processor

View-2 PNP = $375

Data over lay

G-Box = $625

you can mix and match but the setup I would run would be around $2300

Thanks,
Adam
