are we allowed to run these in CSP?
does it cost points

yup, you can 'modify' your tranny in C/SP under the authorized mods for the class, so you can indeed use a sequential gearbox if you think that'll prevent your Nissan crapbox from finished 7th behind the six Hondas ahead of you :) No prep points required, just a big turbo for your wallet!

You going with a Quaife or a Hewland? It's all about the bling bling my friend...

hey hey, crap box :) i was looking at a quaife 6 speed with digital gear display..and custom bell housing adapter....its costly at around 11k...maybe next year?

what i did get is a very handy blitz sbc id boost controller..that has gear sensitive boost control ...so if i am losing against the honda weasel cars i can just up the boost a bit for a few seconds :)

Dave

up the boost? Say it with me now...."KABOOOOOM!". Nothing I love the sound of more than my competitors blowing up their engines as they try to keep up with my naturally aspirated tin can :)

Do you have a driver turbo too? You're going to need it! :D

Smack talk 101, bring it!

he he...with the intercooler i have and using ultra 94 i should be able to boost to 15psi..since that is what some of the guys are running in the usa on stock internals...i have run safely with 12psi no probs..stock ignition settings :)

at 15psi i will be laying down a good 280rwhp-300rwhp maybe more...that is more than enough to slap your wussy hondas around the track.....its all about power...and now i have some :) to start i am only going to use 10psi..that should be enough...

the hondas will pay..they will suffer under the tyranny of nissans ultimate rule... :)

or like you say..the motor is going to go bang! then i will have to swap in a DOHC motor :)

This is getting scary!

"Nissan crapbox"
"behind the six Hondas ahead"
"honda weasel cars"
"tyranny of nissans ultimate rule"

Let's channel some positive energies!

Might as well join in... I remember back when I had only 300rwhp naturally aspirated... stock... what a drag. :D

I've been thinking about a sequential (well, clutchless manual really) for my car for a couple of years now. I really don't know which way to go, and I need to be able to hold at least 700rwhp, because that's where I see myself going in the end (not for Solo, mind). The Jerico can do that, but it is a vicious bastard... then again, they all are in a way.

ADAM

he he..you need the extra 400hp just to move the weight of that american steel :)

Shaman

Ah, but I have something you are not familiar with... torque!

ADAM

he he..we can have a go at shannonville this year...what do you run in the 1/4..

with NOS i will probably be in the low 12's maybe 12.1-12.4

Shaman

11.84@128.7 with no power adder on Kumho V700s. With Sunoco 94.

But hey, if you need two power adders...

Bubblecar

10.89 @ 138 with 2 power adders. (dyno HP at 623)

and

11.4 @125 with 1 power adder - on full solo configuration on rain tires! (dyno HP at 424)

(Hey this is a - mine's bigger than yours type of thing!)

he he..we know about high power talons..how long is it gonna hold together with 623rwhp :)did you have any shafts break yet

nick ..so are you done with drag racing yet? gets boring quick no....? glad to see you finally went with NOS..it really is hard to beat it..i have used it for years on the street..

he he..keep in mind...i drive my car on the street still :)

re: shaman..

yeah ok..that is quick...i think i would have to be boosting to 15psi and use nos to get into the 11's on street tires...but it would still be fun to have a go next year...i have not found any street machines yet that can take me down at 10psi boost..remember i am sub 2700lbs :)

Steve, I assume you're going turbo (or twin turbo?) to get the 700rwhp? You're going to need some SERIOUS threadlock to keep you flywheel on at that point! I guess if you go sequential perhaps that becomes less of a problem...I don't know if a the shiftless gearbox does away with the traditional flywheel/clutch assembly.

I believe there's a twin turbo C5 (Lingerfelder or whatever that company is) running at the OTC this year. There's also a couple of monster Vipers running and a race prepped Ferrari F40. I will take lots of pictures :) We won't be the fastest team there, but we will be the most visibly Canadian! We've got our 'Bob and Doug McKenzie' racing suits on order already...

Take off hosers!

TT for sure 2 big T4 turbos could do it....for that matter a nissan SR motor dynoed 600+ and thats a 2.0l running 25psi with a T4...so 700 from a big block v8 is not that much....

Shaman
03-26-2002, 04:53 PM
Smallblock V8. :)

A single T72 turbo is what we will probably settle on. It's hard to say, but that combination has produced 707rwhp on pump gas without reverse cooling, which I'd be using. And that was in a stock CID motor. With race gas, they're shooting for 900rwhp with that combination - but I don't feel the need - nor would that power be at all useful at Shannonville or the DDT.

The flywheel problem looks to be solved - a number of people had the issue, but the torqued-to-yield bolts seem to have solved it for everyone. They're expensive and you throw them away every time you take them out, but they don't come out with just power production.

ADAM

what the heck is reverse cooling? do you mean intercooled?

Shaman
04-01-2002, 01:09 PM
Reverse cooling - cooling the heads first, then the block. Cooler heads means less detonation.

Dave
04-01-2002, 02:00 PM
cooler heads prevail... ;)

ADAM
04-01-2002, 02:36 PM
hmmm could this "reverse cooling" be done on my car? it might allow another 1-2psi on street fuel..

hmmm i guess you learn something new every day..i just went the route of a huge intercooler...large oil cooler..and huge custom aluminum race rad..to keep things cool..and a good helping of ultra 94..
and some extra bumper venting

Shaman

Whether you can use it or not depends on how your block's coolant passages are routed. I can't be much more specific than that, either.

Sequential gear boxes, sounds like the name of the parade on gay pride day.

SMILE You make me laugh Brent.

So Brent what did you do to you engine to end up in SP:D

Greg, I didn't do any work to my car at all. The rules changed and now instead of competeing against cars with 30 more whp I have to compete against cars with 100 more whp.

Remember the conversation we had at shannonville last year about this, it seems what you had heard is correct.

Are you going to open house tomorrow?
