Ok, the HADA boys are familiar with me but most of you probably aren't. I have an 85 CRX that was carbed, but now has an 87 Integra DOHC fuel injected engine. I have (or will have by the time the first event rolls around) the following significant mods:

- the aforementioned engine swap
- cold air intake
- header
- larger exhaust front to back
- koni shocks all around
- polyurethane bushings all around
- larger front brakes
- practically gutted interior
- roll cage (back half only)

So, how do I classify my car? From the rulebook, stock I would be in B/2, with the changes, probably B/1, but I don't really want to go to Modified, so it looks like I need to go BSP, and try and maximize my points usage. I'd like to go BSS, but I'd need 4 points just for the engine swap, AFAICT.

Also, for section 6.2, with the roll cage and an extinguisher, I get -3 points, the note says it applies to 6.2.1 - 6.2.7, is that inclusive? The first time I read it, I thought it applied only to items 6.2.1 and 6.2.7, not 6.2.2 et al but now I'm thinking it's 6.2.1 through 6.2.7?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Engine swap....BSP

Also, for section 6.2, with the roll cage and an extinguisher, I get -3 points,

These three point can only be used for the body and trim section, so you cannot use this to offset points from, say, the engine swap or mods.

Ok, that's fine on the BSP side, I just wasn't sure.

As for the three points, I understand they are for trim/body points, my question was does it cover 6.2.1 through 6.2.7 or is it 6.2.1 and 6.2.7?

Thanks

That would be through. So you could, for example, put a carbon fibre hood (6.2.1-1 point), modify the bumper (6.2.9-1 point) and change to a non-authorized battery (6.2.7-1 point) to offset the roll cage and fire extingisher points (-3 points).

Hopefully that helps.

Yup, that helps. Thanks!

So because the swap puts me in BSP, do I still have to claim the 4 points or not?

Be aware that this classification in street prepared is dependant on the bore centre lines of the 2 engines being the same. If the bore centre lines are different then it is atomatically into modified for you.

Engine swaps are handled differently in solo 1 and Solo II. I would advise you to get your documentation in order as to block demensions.

How do I determine the bore centre line? The original engine was an SOHC 1.5L, the new one is a DOHC 1.6L., if that makes a difference.

the engines both use the same block. D series that is.

All you've changed is the internals which will cost some points.....you may end up in BM anyway. i donno.
