I know I will... Just want to see what other cars are going to be in my class :D

Mine: 2001 BMW 330Ci - 100% stock - A032R - PF97 - calculated overall index = 61.8

I'll be there in my '98 328is. The most I did was Toyos and Hawk brake pads.

Shane Thomas will be out this year as well, running an E46 (328 or 330), so we should have a full class!!

Last year I did well against most comers (was beaten by an E30 M3), but we may see Avi in his Subaru WRX on R Compounds if we can pry him from his kart.

Woo Hoo! Can't wait!

That's great! :D I was afraid that almost everyone would be in the SS classes!

Rob, so how many others did you compete against in the B2 class last year? Maybe I should rearrange my schedule to compete in most (all?) of the SoloI events

Well, Taylor was there for a while in his Prelude, but he is now running an MR2.

Richard had a 325 that is now classified at B3.

The best competition was the E30 M3 run for one day by the Xiropodis bros. My time was right in between the 2 of them.

I was propositioning Mark in a 318 with some suspension work, and we may see Axel back with his Nissan - but it may now be in another class.

It was frustrating running much of the season in an underfilled class - no way to get maximum points. But now we have Paxing, so the class size is less important.

I'll still be comparing my time to those that I ran close to. It's a great feeling when they move you up in the grid!

Somehow I don't see an under-populated class as a bad thing... I guess I'll find out this year :D

Yup - I'll be running in B2 stock. 2001 330i with the new Kumho R-compound tires. Hopefully I'll see you both at the open house this weekend!!

Cheers
Shane Thomas

I really like the car as well. A little on the heavy side, but the engine is sooo nice!

Not planning anything other than tires - and perhaps brake pads. I am picking up my new tires and wheels later today and I will be at Shannonville this weekend (for a BMWCC event) to try them out. I'll see about pads after this weekend. I'll also be leaving early on Sunday to get to the Open House.

Suspension would be nice - but I would really love a posi - since this is currently controlled by the traction control system (using the brakes) - which is turned off on the track... I wonder if it costs me points if I put a diff on from a different 3 series?

dinan makes a diff for your car......yeah it is a bit heavy..but the motor is smooth as silk..we had the car dynoed if you are interested...posted 200rwhp and 200ftlbs torque... but the weight is the killer..my buddy is looking into a supercharger for it..

I've always said I'd be happy if our cars dynoed at 195+ at the wheels :D

This would definitely be something to consider if you're moving up a class, but it wouldn't be the first thing I'd change.

Talk to Christian about his suspension work and start making plans for next year!

Heck, I'm still trying to figure out what class I'll end up running in....

Obviously, I don't think it will be stock...

I was over at your chop shop - Raven - today. John D. says you were flying at Shannonville on the weekend!

Hmmm....

Gruppe N suspension = maximum suspension points = 6.

Gutted Interior = 1 point offset by the roll cage = 0 points.

Anything else? Still have air conditioning? If not, then you're Street Prepared, otherwise your points will bump you up to SS1, where you'll compete against Christian (last year's winner), Bruce Murphy (nicely done-up M3, Victor in his Talon (very fast in Hoosiers!), and Jud in his vintage V8 Acadian.

Yeah, I kinda figured I'd be in BSP....

No A/C, though I still have the heater core / box / fan.

Is there a set of rules published somewhere which shows the various classes, and the point schedule for each one?

On a side note, I was surprised not to see you and Sue out this weekend, just for a *practice* as much as anything else.

The long track (not Pro track....which is somewhat boring..) at Shannonville is an absolute hoot. More challenging than Cayuga, more turns (and less HP required) than Mosport.

Potentially more fun than Mosport, but without the elevation changes. Given that I'm HP challenged, I like it quite a bit.

Everybody on this forum should be familiar with www.soloontario.com!!!!

The Solo 1 rules, with classes & prep point schedules, are available in PDF form off of this site at http://soloontario.com/pdf/2002SoloIRegs.pdf

Also available are the registration forms for the series and the various apps you'll need, all from www.soloontario.com/info.htm

Now would be a great time to download these & sign up for the events you'll be able to attend ... we need to see some more Bavarian muscle out there!

As the series registrar, I was helping at the Open House. We had about 80 people through to register - looks like about 50 people per event so far.

There's lots of room for more, so pull down the registration package and drop it in the mail to me. The deadline for the May 18 event is May 8th , so act fast!
