View Full Version : Azenis vs A032R
What do you guys think will be more competitive this season: old, used (40% tread depth) A032R hard compounds, or brand new Falken Azenis ST215s (the older style)?
Both are 14".

would it be a fair comparison between the a032 - an R compound tire vs the azenis - a 'R' looking street tire?

Jay I'd be tempted to give the nod to fresh azenis, the azenis offer their best grip when relatively cold while the aged/heat cycled 32r's are past their prime.
Getting the top layer scrubbed off the 32r's and giving them a tire treatment might bring them back to life a bit but I have no experience with tire treatments.

Bah! I ran ALL of last year on old, used, hard-compound A032's (and will continue to use them for the first part of this year). And they are holding up just fine! Those things are great. They never wear out! I'm keeping them til I see steel.
Thanks for the input guys. Reason I'm asking is I have the chance to buy a set of wheels with either tyre included - I'm trying to figure out which set. I should mention that these will get street driven so "hard core" rubber like the V710s is probably a bad idea. (And yes, I know what the Yokos sound like on the street.)

That looks like an extremely hard and long brake application. I had A008rsc2 last year and I have been told by older autocrossers that those tires were about ten years old and mine may have been around that age, they were great when it was hot out and the tire could heat up but they sucked everywhere else.

Well, having driven twice on the 3 year old A032R Hard compounds that Reg gave me with his rims, I'm inclined to lean towards the Yokos.
I'm going through the same debate right now. I was going to order some Azenis as my summer/rain tires, but now that the 710's aren't coming until mid June I'm thinking A032R's and find ANOTHER set of rims for summer... sigh...
