Hi Folks,

Speed Channel World Challenge Cup racing is taking place at Mosport the same weekend that we are at the DDT.

I've been talking to one of the racers, who is also a BMW Club Racer from California:

I just booked my flight.
I get in late Wednesday night (5/15) and test Thursday, practice Friday and race on Saturday.

I will try and make it over to your Solo I event. Come by the paddock as well.

You can reach me on my cell phone at (949)887-5090.

James

Looks like we should plan on buying admission to the Trans Am Races that weekend!

The paddocks are always completely open at WC events. It is by far the friendly group of racers I've ever come across. They will come right up to you and ask you have any questions. Invite you to poke you head around their car, etc. Awesome fan support.

Wish more racing events were like that. Somehow I can't see Schumi beeing friendly like that :(

That is the same weekend as the first event? That's great news. :)

It is only the touring series right?

Nope, it's the BF Goodrich Trans-Am weekend.
Same thing last year. Unfortunate, but tru.

Well, I meant only the TC's from the WC. I won't complain if the TA cars are there too. :)

How much time will a Solo 1 competitor have to check out the World Challenge stuff going on at the big track?

Or will I have to wait until Speedvision airs it on June 1st?

Not much, a Solo 1 competitor's schedule is pretty full. There's morning practice lapping, then you're either running on the track, or marshalling. When you do have some time off you're either working on your car or talking to or watching other drivers trying to figure out how to shave another 10th off your lap time.

You might be able to sneak over to the big track for about 20 minutes during lunch but that's really about it.

For any Protegé fans, Jim Jordan has extended an invitation for people to stop by at 10:30 AM after qualifying.

So assuming there is time to go over to the Big track to visit the paddock, how do we avoid the $40 entrance fee?? Any ideas.

Can't avoid the entrance fee unless you have guest pass from one of the teams.

You get the difference the on full weekend ticket price back when you leave... So if you pay $60 at the door, you get $40 back when you leave on Saturday.

I've never been to Mosport so I have no idea how anything is layed out .. does each track have a separate ticket gate?

Yup, each track has their own entrance gate(s).
