Yes.

Just search these forums - all the posts were imported and should be here.

Keep in mind that if there are posts you can't see, it may be because you need to change your settings for how far back you can see posts. Look in the bottom left corner of a forum window (where you see the list of threads in a particular forum) and you'll see a box where you can set to see posts from "last 30 days", "last 60 days" and so on. That has to be set to "From The Beginning" to see everything on the board. Looks like the attached jpg.

This setting doesn't affect searches, though. Searches find all messages at any time.

Hope this helps,

Scott

There seems to be a problem with searches ... some words, which I KNOW exist in some posts return no hits. For example,. searching for "Williams" returns no hits

There DOES seem to be a problem with searches. The threads are there, but the search isn't finding them.

"Williams" should have found this;

http://66.59.135.81/forums/showthread.php?t=5809

for instance.

I'll respond here once I've had a chance to see what's going on.

Thanks for pointing this out, people.

Here's the issue. I think new threads since the forums were recreated are searchable. Try searching for "Elite" in the body of posts. That will return a result. So will "Thursday".

I think the problem is that during the reinstall old threads are not indexed for searching. The internal search structure changed in the forum software between the old and new versions. The solution may be to rebuild the thread search indexes. This is a server intensive process, so I will not do it until this evening and it probably won't take effect till tomorrow morning.

If it works (i.e. I can find "Williams" or "impact") then I'll post here. If it doesn't work, I'll let you know and keep trying.

Thanks,

Scott

Yup, sure sounds like an indexing issue. Thanks for the quick reply, and for looking into it!

OK, search indexing is fixed, and you can find "impact" and "Williams" again. :D

Thanks again for pointing this out, guys.

something is broken on my search button..

i searched "alignment"

trying to find a thread where we discussed what is allowed for stock in solo II

i was wrong when i thought it was Factory specs..

after reading the rules... it basically reads alignment is free (as long as you don't alter any of the stock pieces)

remember that thread??

As far as I can see, searching seems to be OK.

Searching on "alignment" returned hundreds of posts going back to the beginning of these forums in 2002.

Could the post you want be buried later in the list?

Well, I'll help if I can but from what I can see there's no indexing issue. Wish I could offer more, japanese noodles or not.

The thread's there - someone found it.

Obviously we DO have an indexing issue.

Give me a day or two to work on it.

Thanks,

Scott

Well google seems to see the old posts. While I was doing a search for:
skunk2 ek "camber kit"
This forum came up. Not only that, but with the proper www.casc.on.ca address!

The indexing still seems a little off. I searched "honda" and got 10 pages of results back to October 2005, but then it went sketchy....

:confused:I'll reindex, but it's conceivable that a search for "honda" throughout the entire post database might be a little tough to index.

Posts prior to October 2005 were in a much older version of the forum software and although all upgrades do include scripts to upgrade the database it's probably not reasonable to expect them to work in all instances.

We'll do what we can.

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks Scott. If its not possible, its not possible....not gonna ruin anyone's life over it.

But if you can work the magic, we might keep ya around for a few more years!
