Four Star Motorsports and the Maple Leaf Rally Club are proud to present the 2005 Four Star Motorsports Rallycross Series!
The 2005 rallycross series will be returning to the Dungannon Recreation Centre in Bancroft, Ontario. These events are intended to provide safe, affordable rally competition for novice and experienced competitors alike. Classes are available for all cars and the series is suitable for street vehicles. The series will run under CARS RallyCross rules, so roll cages and five-point harnesses are not required.
Dates: July 24, August 28 and September 25.
Incentive program:
- Four Star Motorsports is offering 10% discounts on 13" and 14" gravel tires for rallycross competitors. 15" tires are already available at reduced prices.
- Four Star is also donating a selection of prizes to be given out at each event.
- All volunteers for the 2005 Black Bear Rally will receive a $10 rebate (to be paid in cash at the event) for their entry in the July rallycross.
- All MLRC club members will receive a $10 rebate (to be paid in cash at the event) at each rallycross.

I think I'm going to have to make room for one of these, now that I have a car that I don't care about seeing gravel.

It's a really different type of experience. Lots of fun!
I agree. I'll definately be there for at least some of the events.
Hmm, Corolla, Mirage, or bring my parents' new (old) 4x4 Grand Cherokee? Decisions decisions...

I plan to be there, I think with a lowly 3cyl. Metro. It will be my first time, but I just picked up 4 new Hakkas from a friend, so that should help.
What is the track like? Is it fairly fast, or small, and slow?

It doesn't matter what you drive. If you want to go fast, the most important thing is that you have a car which you care very little about. Just floor it right over the rocks and ruts and whatever other crap might be in your way and you will set some good times. Not that it's rough on the cars or anything. The worst damage I've ever seen happen there is a flat tire or two. However most people drive nervously because they are in their daily driver.
There are 2 areas that are run as courses. There is "The Pit", and there is the parking lot. Personally, I really like the pit. It has many different types of corners and many elevation changes, which make it very interesting and fun. Most of the turns are either medium, or medium-low speed turns. With one or two high-speed turns. There are no low speed corners there. The only downfall to the pit is the surface. It's a gravel pit by name, but technically it's really a sand pit. Which means it gets chewed up and rutted very quickly, making it very tricky to drive well. 2wd cars often struggle for grip when the surface gets bad.
The upper parking lot area has a much harder gravel surface. So it doesn't get rutted quite as badly. It is also completely flat, which makes it better for less powerful cars. But the courses there tend to be much tighter and narrower, resulting in a lower average speed. It's speed and tightness is similar to most Solo 2 courses. While the pit runs tend to be a bit faster. Some competitors last year were very near the maximum allowed average speed of 70kph in the pit.
The picture of the Mirage in Jay's signature is in the parking lot. The picture of the MR2 in my signature is in the pit.

I care so little about the car, I can't wait to thrash it :)
Its my 3cyl. tester car(click on 3tech in my sig), and I really want to test it.

Can either of you guys offer any car prep tips?
This Metro came without sway bars. I've added one to the front, so handling isn't awful. Do you think it would be better to have one in the back as well, or not?

On loose or slippery surfaces, most drivers prefer the cars without swaybars. Even though the car may not "handle" quite as good, you'll find there is much more overall traction to play with.
