Okay so not exactly breaking news, but if we lose the lot there at Blandford Mall to the new plant, you can partially thank the auto-workers of Mississippi and Alabama for it!
"He said Nissan and Honda have encountered difficulties getting new plants up to full production in recent years in Mississippi and Alabama due to an untrained - and often illiterate - workforce. In Alabama, trainers had to use "pictorials" to teach some illiterate workers how to use high-tech plant equipment. "

It's actually even sweeter that we "stole" it from the states...

I know a few people that are trainers in the US. It's made them racist.

It's funny, when Honda opened its 2 plants in Alabama a couple of years ago we had hundreds of people from Alabama up here training. Great bunch of people... but yes, their intelligence did seem a little lacking. Many were here over the winter, that was fun, shoulda seen us trying to get them out ice fishing... "So, let me get this straight, you go out onto a frozen lake, put a big damn hut out there, drill a hole in the ice and then set a fire?!?" They sure didn't get it.

Why should the expectation of a competant and skilled workforce by the Japanese Auto Manufacturers make some US workers racist? American illiteracy in their own language isn't Japan's fault or their problem to fix.
Or are the Japanese management types being condescending to their perception of a "stupid American" in their dealing with training their workers?

Tod, I can't blame them in their lack of intelligence with our winter activities. Their winter is probably like our fall in terms of temperature. Hell we live here all year round and you see our intelligence on the roads after the first snowfall?!?!?
Anybody here ever worked for both an US and Japanese car company and can elaborate on any differences good or bad?

Who said anything about Japan? It's made them racist about black people.

OOPS! I just assumed it was towards the Japanese since they opted to put the plant up here in Canada and picked a better work force over millions in tax subsidies...
