PERU, Ind. (July 5, 2005) – It was fitting that on a national holiday weekend, SCCA Soloists made The Tire Rack® SCCA Solo National Tour stop at the Grissom Aeroplex in Peru one the best in history in terms of sheer numbers, as nearly 400 competitors representing more than half of SCCA’s 111 regions took part in the two day event.

In all, 398 men and women from 63 regions battled it out on the pylon-lined courses Saturday and Sunday, which meant sending cars on course at a pace faster than the one reserved for The Tire Rack® SCCA Solo National Championships. "

The course allowed cars to start at 12 second intervals, hell we can't even get guys to show upo at registration on time let alone the starting line

maybe they don't hit any?
Remember thier courses are fast and flowing

When we were in Detroit last year hardly any cones were hit

true.. numbers that would probably result in courses with 20 or 30 foot wide gates.. avoiding constricting to one line would result in less cones hit....

Approx. 400 at $35 a head would be $14000.00 for that event. Now I can see how they manage some of those lots.

P.S. I think Topeka is $75 or $85 a head with double the quantity.

Compare HADA event #1 with event #2. The first event was hell on the marshalls having to run every other run. The second event was much more open, and needed a cone replaced every 15 cars or so.

Our regional events could easily handle twice as many cars.....but you'd only get half as many runs. Most SCCA National Tour events only give you 3 runs each day.

And they can go so much quicker by running in groups...so staging and marshalling don't delay things.....but I'm not on my soapbox to talk about that.......... ;)
