It's called "Barrell Racing"... and it's on TV (OLN - Calgary Stampede...)

It's in an arena... and if you knock over a barrell... 5 sec. penalty!

PRETTY COOL!

The horses were like AWD cars.... with an active suspension and AWESOME, wicked-smart diffs....

The whole "vehicle" leans INTO the corner.... maintains camber... it's awesome!

Where would that class in our sport?
R-Compound horse-shoes???

WICKED!!!!
:D  :p

My Mrs. used to do that when she rode horses.

She said her horse loved that event, way more than the jumping!

So if there was a combination event... of Barrell Racing and auto-x for couples... you guys would likely set FTD!

(until Tony buys Mrs. McGrath a thoroughbread.... which WOULD happen.... if such an event were to exist.)

:D :p ;)

They can be very competitive, you know!

A few times a year you can see some type of AutoX event mixed in with horses on TV (TSN, OLN, or one of the other sport networks). It starts with the horse rider going through the course and then when they finish, a team mate takes over and drives a car (Subaru or Audi) through the course. I think it’s usually a fun/charity event. I'm sure if you were to google it you'll get some matches.

That would be called a Horse and Horse Power event. Ohhh wait, they already have those at Kawartha Downs. Well, something like that anyways :)

That's sad.

It's GREAT horse riders.... futzing around in a corporate sponsored car... on dirt....

And in an Audi with a riding hat / jodpers / riding boots / gloves?

until Tony buys Mrs. McGrath a thoroughbread.... I would suggest a quarter-horse rather than a thoroughbread - they're sturdier, smarter and less temperamental. :) Most cutting horses (the one's used for barrel racing and stock herding work) are quarter-horses. My first wife had one, and you could ride him English and Western, and he was a decent Hunter (that's jumping and stuff) - and his name was ... wait for it ... "Audi". :D

I sure the stock horses have a better PAX.....
