I have signed my nephew up for the Solo 1 school but up to this point have had no feedback on Hotel arrangements , or other info that would allow a person to plan a track weekend. It is only one week away yet little info has been released.I am hoping this is not an indication of the way the school will be run.
Whazzzup!

A email memo was sent out last week by Rob McAuley the registrar with brief details about the school with each students confirmation. Maybe some people didn't receive it, so I'll get a hold of Malcolm and make sure everyone is notified asap.

Perry

Alex,
Malcolm or Rob are contacting all the students with the final hotel details. As for direct info about the school, I don't knowe what you need but ask Maocolm or Rob any questions you may have. If you need directions to the track we'll provide them to you asap.

Perry

I think Big Al Byrne knows how to get to the track :)

Thanks Perry,
I am not doing the school but am brining my nephew up for an introduction to the sport.I talked with Chris and Rob today and as far as they know things should be straightened out by the beginning of the week. The reason i am somewhat ticked by this situation is the lateness of final details also i believe a package was supposed to be sent out in advance to all students .This package was in part to be supplied by a series sponsor and would have been a good intro for any novice student involved. Not enough time for that now.I realise this school is being run by one of the clubs and should not reflect on you or Solo1 in generall. All the same i do really feel the ball was dropped somewhere along the line.
Alex.

Alex,
I'm glad you're bringing out a new person to the sport. They're going to have a blast. But just to comment on the statements you made:
"The reason i am somewhat ticked by this situation is the lateness of final details also i believe a package was supposed to be sent out in advance to all students .This package was in part to be supplied by a series sponsor and would have been a good intro for any novice student involved. Not enough time for that now.I realise this school is being run by one of the clubs and should not reflect on you or Solo1 in generall."
I agree the actual details may have been left a little late, but in all fairness, students signed up for the school for May 11 & 12th and already knew when & where they were going to be this weekend. Yes I agree that acommodation details could have been sent earlier, but by getting the details this past weekend is still OK, it just provides the pertinent info regarding times and locations that all students require.
Also, at no time were any students promised any type of "package" when they enrolled. We do have an agreement with a sponsor to distribute his product to all the students, but no student should be expecting more than the school which we are holding. The "package" we are going to get to each student is a bonus offered by Solo I.
There are 4 clubs involved in the School and the series events which we hold. Each club takes a different approach to how they run an event, but I as the Director ensure that the clubs adhere to a strict set of guidelines to ensure each event is of top quality and that each competitor gets the highest form of entertainment and safety that they've come to expect from Solo I.
I hope to see you at some of our events, it's going to be a great series.
Regards
Perry

I really don't want to add a log to this, but I am a little confused.

That statement implies then that it was Solo 1 that was responsible for the distribution of that package and not the organizing club. This also indicates that there should be no requirement (regardless of reason) to verify the usability of this package by the organizer/organizing club since this is a "Solo 1" deal and not a "Solo 1 school" deal. This differs from the information given yesterday by both the organizing club and Solo 1.

Taylor,
What I am saying to the individual is that at no time was a student promised a package that included anything. Alex has knowledge from yourself through HADA that is not public knowledge (until now). It always was and is my intention to distribute the Both Feet In CD to the students as a BONUS from Solo I, not an expected gift by the student. Since I as Solo I Director appoint the chief instructor, I took it upon myself to have him look over your material prior to handing it out to the students, which to my knowledge he has not done yet. This is another matter for later discussion but now that the date of the school fast approaches I don't have the time and resources to mail out the CD's as we would have like to have done. As was my original intention to give the CD to students who were actually signed up for events after the school to promote more involvement other than just showing up for the school. I have instructed Chris Sorensen to distribute the CD at the school to ALL students, whether or not they are returning for events.
For any further discussion of this matter please feel free to contact me directly on Tuesday or Wednesday, as my plate is quite full today and I won't be back checking the forum any more today.

Regards
Perry

In short, for the others, Alex knows about it because Alex is a friend. HADA and it's members are highly supportive of Wired Motorsports and Both Feet In. Regardless of that, I want to make it clear that I haven't at any time discussed the terms of the sponsorship agreement between WMS, BFI and Solo 1. I do not discuss contracts (even though I haven't actually seen a contract for sponsorship yet). Fact is this particular issue was not finalized/agreed to at the time of my agreeing to sponsor. I only ever indicated that I hoped that I could get the CD into the hands of the students prior to the school. It would help me, it would help the Solo school, and ultimately it would help the students. I hoped as a sponsor it would happen. And I suspect for that reason it was agreed upon and was supposed to happen. For reasons beyond my control, it has not happened. I'm sure the students will still get much use from the product after the fact, but it was always designed as a pre-cursor for a school or at the time of a school, enhancing the students ability to understand and absorb the information at the school better therefore enhancing their school and on track experience. Afterwards it's hoped that you already learned the skills and methods discussed on the CD, so the CD looses a little something. For for those that found the wall of information on school day a little over bearing, they should get a lot from it. And the product is good as a resource to check to reinforce the sort of things you'll learn in the such a school so that when you forget them, you can go back to the CD. I always find I have to hear/read something more than once to fully understand or absorb it anyhow.

I felt that the Solo 1 School and our product were a perfect match. So it is for those reasons why it was very important to me that the students got it before hand.

Regardless, the students are not being shortchanged. I never indicated the students knew they would be getting the CD. So ultimately nothing has changed for the students. They will still get a good deal on a good school that does a good job of preparing them for Solo 1 competition.

Yes Perry,
I may have jumped the gun on the info package deal. However why does it take 5 days before an event to give out information.
I paid for this 4 months ago.I know the ropes for solo1 weekends and schools but it is the new students and competitors that i am voicing my gripes for.Imagine you are new to this sport and have ponied up the money for the school. No info outside of the fact you are registerd,5 days to go and you finally get what you have been waiting for.I will voice it again .Does not look good on the Solo community. No flames please and i am friends with many members of the organizing club, however they have dropped the ball and i would like it to be formally adressed.Yes i will be at the meeting Thursday, not to knock heads but to maybe come up with some ways to avoid this in the future.

Alex,
I agree that the ball has been dropped, and I welcome your attendance at the committee meeting as I do all competitors. It is with your input and that of others that we will make OUR sport even better for those coming into as well as the ones already here.
