Look what happens when you disappear for a year; I have been informed that you MUST be series registered to run at a Regional Event. Is this true? :o
(It may be on the "rules and regulations" page but I don't have Acrobat Reader on my comp)
- help -

yes its true, registered for the series or a member of the home club.
some clubs will sell you a temporary membership for $5 for the day but this doies not qualify you for the shootout

You must be series registered OR be a member of the host club. It is up to the host club how they issue membership (i.e.: temporary memberships can be issued if the host club wants to do this)

What about other Club events? Does every club have a different set of rules?

see me at the event, and rather then spend $5 to join for the day, why don't you buy an spda membership?
Its only slightly more and you get to join one of the fastest growing clubs in Ontario

I don't think SPDA wants a Sentra pilot joining their club! :)

Perry,
You need to either be series registered, or be a member of the hosting club.
As a TAC member, she could attend this weekend's regional at the Brampton centre on Saturday, but to run Bracebridge, she would either need to join SPDA (the hosting club for that event) or series register.

sorry.. that thread still doesn't explain it
to participate at a regional event
1) you have to be series registered (already belonging to a club)
2) be a member of the HOSTING club
3) or become a temp member of that hosting club
it makes the regional people feel better.. but at the same event...
you can have newbies, not be a CASC member and STILL run

It seems that ppl get so @nal over every single rule or rule-change in this sport. Not everyone is always gonna be happy. I hate when threads turn out to be a b*tch-fest.
I personally think that its great that you now have to be series registered to run.
As for those tho get a little peeved when newbies suck up some of everyone's time at the track... I know its a little annoying sometimes but everyone's gotta start somewhere !
not really.. I find it hard to understand.. that if your dad showed up to a regional event and wasn't series registered.. he'd have to become a temp member from the hosting club to run (even if he's a member of a CASC club)
his first post doesn't explain the "hosting club thing"
to me it reads.. as long as you're a casc club member you are allowed to run, just not be scored in the series
Just a heads up......
If you do not present one when registering in the series, your series registration will remain pending until it is shown (no numbers officially issued, no scoring, etc.). If you are participating in regional events this year, you will be required to show a club membership card at event registration if you are not series registered.
I will be talking to all the clubs about an option to get a temporary club membership for a "reasonable" cost at the events, but it is recommended that you take care of any membership issues BEFORE the season starts.

I also think its great b/c then you only get ppl coming out who are devoted to the regional series. But there is a small window where newbies CAN come out and run.
I know people who want to come out and participate, but they are 1) worried about the wear & tear on their car, or 2) don't feel like having to become a member of a club. They just want to show up and run when they feel like it.
I mean, the rules aren't meant to discourage anyone, but I think they inadvertently bring out only those who truly love the sport. :)

Don't be discouraged by regional series regs. There must be at least 20 club series running in Ont. that allow anyone (almost) to run.

I'm never discouraged. This would have been my fourth year running... however I did not sign up for the series this year. :o

1) To basque in the cauldron of intellectual verbosity, knuckle dragging and such
2) To imerse in the chasm of comeraderie
3) To acquire unquestionable wealth in the company of like minded intellects
4) For spiritual fulfillment, to bring oneself closer to "jamaharon"
5) To reprieve oneself from the drudgery of reality
6) To acquire, engage, and apply formulas in the testing of proof
7) To salvage the remnants of sanity in sanctity
8) To reacquire and reapply that which has runneth over
9) To absorb radiation in all it's forms
10) To aclimate oneself to the prevalent compendium of half truths
11) To learn the theory of team spirit
12) To sweep up and collect the overabundance of testostarone left behind on the tarmac, bottle it and store it for D-Day.
13) Exposure to multitudes of gender and cultural diversity, sometimes all in one person ( Jason )
14) To gain experience in surgical military tactics in misinformation
15) To acquire trust by honourable individuals, so they too can learn to trust in what not to trust.
16) To escape from the escape
17) Why not!

It was the after the fourth gate at the pin turn cone not the first, and it was the first off course in 8 years, not since I ran my Impala SS at the Dixie Go lot so very long ago.
Hmmm, I'll stick to road racing, at least I can follow the 2 white lines that border the track.

I REALLY don't think there are any.
And if there are, there sure as hell aren't enough women that love it!
I REALLY don't think there are any.
Gee, thanks, Matt. Nice to know I'm so forgettable when I'm at 95% of events :p
There are a number of women who like this sport and participate regularly. There's an all-girl team in the regional series!
There are other regular female drivers in club and regional series. Anna's going to the Nationals, if I'm not mistaken!
Why do I do solo2?
(1) It's fun
(2) It gives me bragging rights at the office ("You did WHAT on Sunday?")
(3) I can drive my car properly
(4) It's a constant learning experience that has nothing but positive results (in the long run, at least)
(5) Friendly competition
(6) Great people
(7) Something to do on weekends that doesn't involve a computer and 8 hour coding stints while sitting on my butt
(8) Fresh air and some excercise (okay, as fresh as air can be in Toronto while surrounded by 30-120 cars...)
I do this because I can; because I like it.
Not to sound like a complete sap, but I'm a very different, improved person compared to a year ago when I started Solo2. There's a direct connection between the improved quality of my life and my participation in grassroot motorsports.
In short, this community is a major blessing.

Should I be concerned that most of Opals list would apply to me as well? :)
All I think except for the "Great People" thing.. YOU ALL SUCK!.. no wait.. it was the bragging at work thing that doesn't match... self-employed and all. :)

Yep....Opal's list matches my reasons perfectly but need to add DareBee's reason from the other thread. Hubby can't understand why I haven't sold the crx....solo2 gives it a reason not to be sold when I get a newer car.

I love the shaking I get after a decent (or bad!) run - the adrenaline rush
I love learning more about how to handle a car
I love the bragging too ;-)
I hate getting up so early - hence my not running this year
I hate being too broke to easily come out to events
I hate that I'm not very good - although I only want to improve relative to *me*, I am competitive, so the not being very good sucks ass.
