Adam, you turn on the same road as you would to go to the DDT, but instead of going thru the gates onto the DDT properly you keep going on that side road (called Concession Rd 10) and enter at Gate 3 (see the bottom of the map). This will take you to the paddock, where you can either cross the track when it's not in use or you can drive thru the tunnel, though your trailer may not fit thru the tunnel so best to get there at an hour when you can cross the track above. Shouldn't be a problem Friday night.

Perhaps a scale for some perspective... ie, that light green patch in the infield could probably house the entire DDT track.

But... think DDT... at 2x the pace... and 4x the elevation changes. ;)

Not sure what to tell you, Ben -- it's the biggest and fastest road course in Ontario and probably in Canada. It's widely recognized as one of the best road racing circuits in the world. Many of the Speed World Challenge and ALMS drivers will tell you it's their favourite stop on their schedule. We're very lucky to live so near and have access to such a world-class facility.

Pretty much all the corners are big fast sweepers (other than 5a and 5b, which are more the speed we're used to as Solo 1 drivers) where the limit is higher than most are willing to push their cars & themselves. As a result, it is a course that takes a fair bit of seat time to master or at least get comfortable on. Don't expect to be keeping up with some of the veterans in your class (Rob McAuley comes to mind) who have many many hours of track time on the big track. You have to respect the speeds and the fact that if you go off there's a good chance you'll hit a wall. So the only way to approach it, IMO, is to ease your way up to speed, little by little. Most of the corners are not what I'd call forgiving to trail braking or drop throttle techniques unless you're really comfortable at the higher speeds and have total confidence/control over your car & driving. As a result, you'll want to emphasize doing all your braking in a straight line, make very smooth inputs with pedals and wheel, and generally placing an emphasis on the 'slow in fast out' philosophy. Respect this track and you will have the time of your life and you will drive home in your own car. Push your luck too much and all bets are off.

But don't let this scare you -- because it really is a joy to drive this track. It has incredible flow -- it just feels the way a race track should feel. Every corner is different, due in large part to the elevation changes (which are dramatic in Turn 2 and Turn 4) and the track is so big and wide and fast that finding the best line for your car and driving style does take some time. But oh what a fun time it is! You'll love every second of it. It's driving nirvana :)

Mosport really is a world-class circuit... if not a world-class facility. I just got back from Watkins Glen -- which is another world-class circuit -- and it simply amazes me how incredibly complex and integrated Mosport is. Many tracks like Watkins are strings of corners that are not really linked. Occasionally you find sets of 2-3 corners that could be called rythem sections, but by-and-large, it's just one corner after another. You can achieve 95% of your race pace by the end of day one. Mosport is really one big "rythem section" slightly broken up by two straights... one of which isn't straight at all. Mess up one corner and you may carry that error for half a lap.

Do yourself a favour and download as many in-car track videos as you can find.... and then watch them over and over and over. Then follow Dave's advice and, indeed, you will have the time of your life.

Do a google search for Mosport in-car videos. I think most of the ones that I have I found on various Porsche Club of America websites, but I can't remember for sure!

I have my own in-car vids... but I'm on dial-up and they are 500+MB each!

Oh... and NO off-track excursions ok?!!
