View Full Version : Shifting classes? Is this allowed?

... an unusually slow day (but this is expected with a Z24).

At event 6, there was a silver '99 Z24 apparently running G Stock and we ran our black '99 Z24 in H stock. We run in H stock because we consider the Z24, per regs, as part of "General Motors FWD-NOC".

So my questions are (1) is it permissible to change classes? and/or (2) are one of the two cars running in the wrong class?

I wouldn't bother with something so mundane but looking at the results it looks like G stock may be [arguably] less competitive than H stock and it’s not looking like I’ll be qualifying for the shoot-out if I stay in H (woe is me ;-) ...

If anyone can clarify, would appreciate it.

Many thanks

From the rule book:
G-Stock:
General Motors - All FWD w/ 6cyl, Quad4 or 4 cyl Turbo NOC

I am not aware of any Z24 that didn't come with one of those engines. You should have been in G-stock. You can't legally change classes mid event. But I'm sure if you pointed out that you were in the wrong class then the organizers would rather change it than have to deal with protests and through out your entire event.

Ah yes..GMs answer to Honda 4 cyls. Except they were as smooth and smokey as a 2-stroke, and got as good fuel economy as a 302...

Doh~ that's embarrassing... we'll get it fixed (and get it right next time). At least I have an excuse (kinda, it's not, my car...).

Thanks for the clarification.

Nah... my toe is rather swolen, and doesn't like being confined to a shoe... I'll let you know when we ride again Ryan.

Oh, so that's why "Driver B" was so much slower than "Driver A" in the same car. :D

No, doll, that's skill ;-) ... okay, maybe luck - we'll see what happens next event. If only I could get that heel and toe thing down...

Btw, where's that link you wanted me to look at? Had a quick look but didn't see it...

We go mountain biking at Kelso and the DVP trail every now and again.
Wanna come out next time we go?

DVP is a little far for me, but maybe some weekend... Kelso isn't too bad though. My usual haunts are Puslinch, Waterdown, Hilton Falls & Kelso.
Let me know when you plan on going (though I'm on vacation tomorrow thru the 15th)...
