I was wondering if it would be possible that solo II results contain information on tires used by each competitor, or at least is it r-compound or not. I'm not asking for changing classes here! This is simply for my information so I can easier keep track of my progress. I usually calculate the ratio of my time to FTD, but it might be more valuable to get the ratio to FTD on street tires. I think so partially because my "ratios" typically get worse when it's hot, and much better in the early spring or fall. I wonder which clubs would find it feasible?

When I ran on streets I kept track of who ran on Rs and who ran on streets by simply looking at their tires on the starting line or in the pits.

so what your saying is....
you want someone to go around and get all the tire info on each car
and post them on the results so people can see who's running what
so one can compare ones progress
that's an excellent idea.. could you also please add these too:
-tire size
-tread depth
- tire pressure
- what that driver ate for breakfast
- boxers or briefs
- sing or swear while they drive
- yoga or pilates
- if they run with a full, 1/2, 1/4 tank
- rice potatoes, or fries
- ketchup or shoyu
- rocky I, II, III, IV or V
perhaps it might be easier... if one does the digging for themselves

The reason brand and street vs R don't appear in results anymore is simply because of time. At events like the recent MCO event at PMG there are a lot of entries that are not in the system and have to be manually entered. Typing in tire info is just one more unneccessary step that takes valuable time during registration that could be used for the person doing it to have a course walk. The cells are present in the database, but we just skip them.

I thought if car mods need to be reported for classing a car (the registration sheet at PITTL could be an example), it wouldn't be much more work to include tire info (at least 'r' or not). But I acknowledge the time issue from the organizer's point of view.
Anyways, if you guys don't like my idea than don't worry about it.

It's not a question of not liking the idea. It's simply the fact that nobody wants to do the work.

:p
I'll do the work. Somebody point me in the right direction, and I'll do a tire-tally at each event if you want me to.
He's got a point though. If nobodies keeping track of who's running what, we're running putting a lot of faith in the honour system aren't we?

Actually I did, but Rogue suggested that we were putting faith in the honour system. Why worry when any one can run any tire (save full slicks) ? (Assuming we're not keeping track of tires to begin with)

In this sport it seems like only a few people do a whole lot of work for nothing but the love of the sport to make things more fun for the rest of us. Yes it would be nice to have a bunch of cool statistics like what kind of tires each compettitor runs. And maybe its as simple as adding a "Tire Brand" box to the registration form. Or for someone to volunteer to take note of who is running what. But in the end its the organizers who will have to turn a tire tally into posted results.
Im not knocking the request to have more info included in the results. Or the suggestion to allow someone to volunteer to gather such info. But just saying that this thread makes me apreciate how much work the organizers do so we can just show up and pay for an awsome time.
The results that we get right now combined with a little bit of at the track research can totally provide for any kind of personal comparisons or progress reports we are interested in makeing. I guess I just want to say that we have got to remember that there are only a few people who listen to hundreds of people constantly saying "It would be cool if you just did this one thing." or "Thats easy! Id totally do that myself if SOMEONE would just let me help to make things better than they are!"
I know everyone enjoys the sport in different ways. But I dont know if everyone appreciates how accomodating the organizers already are.
Sometimes (to find out what you want) you just have to stand there looking at the time sheets for a while then pick the numbers of the cars you want to go investigate (by looking at the tires, mods or hopping in and going for a ride along). Its awsome that we have the opportunity to do that.
