A couple of the OTC competitors are maintaining updated websites of their progress at the OTC, one of which are these folks from the T4 class:

They have christened Pratte's car the 'Honda from Hell' since it went so fast they were sure the Canadians were running nitrous!

Unfortunately, the Honda from Hell evidently ran into trouble with a blown engine on the third day, but they are supposed to be back in action today!

Yes, apparently their lap times on the first day was 5 seconds ahead of the second place guy in their class!

he he..if a stock austin mini is all they have for compitition..i should hope they trounce it :)

how are they gonna swap another motor in? the motor they have is custom built? what blew? that does not bode well for thier solo 1 season... csp is going to be very interesting

looks like they put the fear of god into the competitors though...thats good... fear the canadians here us roar :)

They think it's a spun rod bearing which is not good at all.

They managed to find a built B16 bottom end and are currently (as I type this) in a shop bolting Dave B18 head onto it. If all goes well they'll be back on the track in a couple of hours.

its all that high revving power..revs kill you...

hopefully they can get it back together to whip the americans and thier austin mini...thats gonna get expensive buying extra built bottom ends...

thats the turbo austin mini no?

Don't you recognize the new 'BMW' MINI Cooper S when you see one?

Oh come on Adam. I think that it's a pretty cool car. It's different from all the other stuff that's out there and that makes it interesting.

It would be awesome if it was rear wheel drive instead of front wheel drive, but that's a pretty minor point.

I'd love to buy one just for running in the Solo 2 / Auto-X sessions...that car is basically built just for that purpose alone!

On the track, I'll stick with the 325 for the moment....

There was a new Cooper S at the Solo 2 school, but the owner (well, driver anyway) looked like he was afraid to push it too much. That's why I like driving a 17 year old car. It doesn't owe me anything.

The guys running the MINI have reported that although Pratte & Dedopoulos were back for Day 5 at Thunderhill, they had no luck with the new engine and are likely out :-(
