Well, Sunday May 26th is the beginning of the CASC-OR 2002 Mobil 2 Solo 2 Championship Series with Event #1 at Picton Airport, just south of Picton.

Directions complete with maps, have been posted on the SoloOntario - Solo 2 web page at SoloOntario - Solo 2 web page at http://www.soloontario.com/solo2. Follow the What's New link or the Solo 2 Schedule link and directions are available by selecting the appropriate link.

The perferred route would be as follows; This is the shortest route from Toronto, but also the route that uses the most scenic country roads.

Take the 401 east to exit 526, Wuller Road (spelling) (after the service station and before Trenton), South on Highway 33, past Highway 2, through Carring Place, Wellington, and Bloomfield to Picton. Once you have made it to Picton, not very far inside Picton town limits is a intersection with Couty Road 10 (East Lake Road at the Liquor Store), turn right (south) and proceed a kilometer or two to County Road 22 or Church Street(?). Turn left (east) on County Road 22 and the Airport should be on the right about a kilometer up the road. If you end up in dowtown Picton, you've gone to far you need to go back and turn at the liquor store.

I hope to see a few people out in Picton on Sunday for the first of nine events across Ontario.

Probably not many Corvettes, they don't want to play with us.

To all,

I apologize for the additional post, but, I want to make sure that no one gets lost on the way to Picton Airport on Sunday for Event #1 in the CASC-OR Mobil 1 Solo II Championship Series hosted by St. Lac.

The directions should read;

Take the 401 east to Exit 522, Wooler Road (after the service station and before Trenton), South on Wooler Road, past Highway 2, to County Road 33. Turn right (east) on County Road 33 and proceed through Carring Place, Wellington, and Bloomfield to Picton. Once you have made it to Picton, not very far inside Picton town limits is a intersection with County Road 10 (East Lake Road at the Liquor Store), turn right (south) and proceed a kilometer or two to County Road 22 or Church Street. Turn left (east) on County Road 22 and the Airport should be on the right about a kilometer up the road. If you end up in downtown Picton, you've gone to far.

Please follow this link to http://www.soloontario.com/solo2/2002/picton.htm for directions with maps.

I DO want to make sure that anybody who is considering coming out on Sunday has the proper directions so that there is no confusion and no one gets lost.

Thank you and we hope to see a good turn out on Sunday.

That's my old stomping grounds. Coming from Kingston or Ottawa, there are two choices, but I'll cover the one you're most likely to take and elaborate on what's on the web page.

Go West to Marysville Road. Head South, gassing up on Ultra 94 if you have a mind to, since I'm not sure you can get high octane fuel in Picton anymore. Head South on 49 highway until you reach Picton - should be about 20 minutes if you're an Honest John with the throttle. Proceed until you reach a stoplight at the top of the Town Hill. Turn left down the hill, then right at the Y intersection to go back up a hill past the old jail. Turn right onto Church Street and follow it past the McAuley House and up a large hill, past the Heights. The airport will very shortly appear on the left side of the road.

If you take the Ferry, you will go down Glenora Road until you reach the Y intersection right by the Tip of the Bay motel. Turn left up the hill and then follow the rest of the instructions from where you turn on Church Street.

Wow .. so early ...
Can you still register for the series after the first event? Meaning.. if I miss tomorrow's event, can I still sign up to compete in the series at Event #2?

Haven't even got my TAC membership yet either so first things first I suppose. (Can't compete for series points without having CASC-OR affilication right?)

Oh, wait .. all the sane people are either already in bed or already at a hotel in Picton... :)

Yes, it's that early.

Yes, you need a membership from a CASC affiliated club to be scored for the series.

Yes you can register at the next, or any other event this season.

Ahh, Rooooo:

You'll soon learn that registration opening doesn't mean you have to arrive there at that time. Solo 2 is a stress relief sport, we usually don't have schedule nazi's. You could easily arrive at 9:30 and not miss anything, of course you may have to jog the course as I saw some people doing yesterday. I've rarely seen events which run exactly on time, it's more a estimate of best-case-scenario.
If anyone takes this seriously enough to get stressed out they shouldn't be organizing. Of course YMMV depending on size of the event.

BTW, thanks to everyone who came to Picton and participated in a fun event.:D

What time was the day finished? If I can convince my wife that the whole day isn't 'wasted' (her term, not mine) then I may be able to make it to more events. The PITL event didn't finish until 6pm, but there were about 75 cars, so I'm not surprised.

We were on the road by 4pm after fun runs and packing up, as well as visiting with my parents who made the trip to check out what all the fuss was about!

Five timed runs with 47 competitors (don't let the regional results fool you there were 22 regional competitors and an additional 25 St.Lac related people who opted no to be scored for the regional event....it was an extra $5 to be regionally scored.)
