Hey all,
I'm redoing my garage (insulation and drywall) and need a good shelving solution. I don't want a bunch of mis-matched shelves that are gonna sag and fall apart.
I was thinking of some sort of rail system on the wall that I can attach various shelves to, and move them around if needed ... any idea where to get stuff like this? Home Depot and Sears does not seems to have much selection, and what they have is $$$. Throw out some idea, guys!
I suppose it all depends on what you are going to put on the shelves, but for miscellaneous parts, boxes, bins, containers of fluid, etc., you cannot beat the unfinished wooden shelving units you can buy from IKEA. Cheap, easy to configure, available in two widths, and will link together, end to end. I've got 'em in my basement, garden shed, and garage.

3/8 or 1/2 inch plywood and cheap triangulated metal supports or homemade ones from 2x2s. :D

Call Dale Sokolowski @ 866.799.0968. He has modular garage systems at very good prices. Something like the Gladiator product but not nearly as expensive. I met him at this past weekend's Snowmobile, ATV and Powersport show. It seemed like a very stable product. It doesn't hurt to call.
Definitely check out Ultra Garage www.theultimategarage.ca

Bakers racks from Costco. Seriously! They can hold a total of 600 lbs. if I remember correctly, are on lockable casters, and you can space the shelves however you wish. Last I saw they were $79.99 Nice chrome finish too.

Interresting ... I'll have to check those out. As nice the ultimate garage stuff is, I'd rather spend $2000 on some new tires :(
