Would a 1978 Midget be a suitable car to vintage race? Is my presumption that it is one of the best bang for (low) buck options, accurate?

Would any one know how many vintage races occur in the Ontario & Quebec yearly?

Your best bet would be to go to VARAC's website http://www.varac.ca/welcome.html and contact the Pres or Vice Pres. They would know the answers.

Do you want to run Vintage or Group70? Do you want to build a car or buy one? Like Crusher said go onto the Varac website and look at the class differences. If you want a nice Vintage racer, John Demaria is selling his Bugeye Sprite (see the VARAC Classifieds) Group 70 are the more modern racers everything from Datsun 240's to Trans Am machinery. Vintage & Historic racing will also give you the opportunity to run with VARAC, SVRA & HSR which run just about every great race track in North America.

Thanks, guys. I will check out the VARAC site and also do some more thinking. I am back to the drawing board for now...deciding whether to go "regular" road-racing or vintage. I had found a Mk IV Midget in good shape locally and the brain simply latched on to the idea of buying and then racing it. I will have a better idea in the new year.

Have an excellent X'Mas and New Year's!
