I finally sold my srt-4, and as my daily driver and winter beater i now own a 96 hyundai accent, which, at 97 ft.lbs., makes rick s's civic feel like a torque monster! seriously, how do you race these things??? i know mines the previous genereation, but i dont think the obviously "performance minded" hyundai engineers changed that much.

the seat feels like they stole a park bench and bolted it in. then stole some kids frisbee and put it at a 45 degree angle to where a proper steering wheel should be. then when trying to figure out where to put the pedals in regards to the gear selector, decided a linear approach to be best, ya know right along the firewall. i dont know maybe the koreans have 20 foot long arms but i have to "gangsta lean" to have any chance of reaching the gear select and not putting my legs through the fire wall, and im not a tall guy. Just slightly over guileeraaamooo  ....."G"!

atleast the gauges are comprehensive...you get three! speed, coolant temp, and gas level. I thought the brake lines had air in them, but apparently hyundai didnt feel a firm brake pedal was desirable?!?! the suspension makes me feel like im on the titanic and im going down! which goes along well with the bus sized frisbee attached to, what has to be, the worst steering ratio manual rack ever!!! the only good thing is that the gas pedal is close to the brake so you can heel toe...unfortunalty i havent gotten the car up to a speed where i could employ this technique. the only reason i can see to turn the car into a race car is you'll have a valid excuse to rip out the extremly noisy interior panels, i owned a saturn and it didnt even rattle this bad. at least it has a space saver spare...incase you dont have space for a full sized thirteen inch wheel with 145/80r13 tires!!! all in all a great car!

Im udderly amazed at what you got this marvel of inge-crap-ity to do! Here's to you Peter and Ana marie.

sincerely,
Sean M.

the secret to driving a slow car fast is to never slow down :)

I've rented some '04 and '05 Accents and I don't think that they're so bad. The low torque gives you time to think as the rubber band winds up.

But I've got to ask... I assume you test drove it before you bought it. Are you giving up torque for Lent? ;)

ya i did test drive it...torque was not one of the factors in finding my street car. I had three prerequistes. 1) great gas mileage 2) cheap...cheap to buy, cheap to repair, just plain cheap and 3) was the ability to drive it into a tree and not feel one bit bad about it! even though i just ranted about everythig i hate about it...i actually love the car. I love not caring who i park next to and if there inbred 5 year old is going to door me, i love being able to beat the crap out of it and not having to worry, i love that the car is in impeccable condition and has only 114,000 k's on it, I love the feeling that if i forgot to buy something in town 12 times in a row, everytime i go back to town it only cost me 5 more cents in gas to get there, and most of all i love that for $1800 i got a car with only 10 ft,lbs less torque then any $10,000 civic! to bad low torque doesnt help you win a race at 5500 rpm's :(

I used to rag on my friend about his 140 horse sunflower he bought for the same as my srt-4, and now he pulls me like im standing still!!! oh well, i still love my accent!

Always remember to pack the glass pipe with honda, and clear it twice.
