View Full Version : autox course of the year

I did events with several clubs last summer, and started thinking which ones I enjoyed most. My personal preference is faster courses, and the winner is the Barrie event when the layout was a leftover from a formula school. The runs were super exciting, especially on wet pavement. And these 180 degree turns after a long straight, which I never nailed, by the way. Second place goes to HADA: I don't remember the date - 2nd event after the solo 2 school, I think. Guillermo posted an in-car video from that day, and I still watch it every now and then. I remember others being happy about this faster course.
Was there better course layouts that I should have come to?
Man, I miss summer, although winter is cool too, but for other reasons.

PITL! My personal favorites. Rarely considered fast but also rarely what you were expecting each time you show up.

I liked the last ever Blandford Square course the best. It's a shame that hardly anyone was there to enjoy it though.
The Shootout course was a close second, even though I was having premonitions of crashing because I knew my setup was far too loose.
I had a lot of fun this year.

That was I good one, I agree Greg! Think we made a pretty good team designing that one..... To bad I was on my winters that day... :(
The more open and faster the better in my opinion as well..
For those of you who were there, one of the better ones of the year was the last SPDA Targa event (Luca designed the course). Not the best layout for the newbies, but fast and very technical. For some reason I find I drive much better on the layouts that I enjoy... or, is it that I enjoy the layouts better when I'm driving well.. :D
Spring couldn't come quick enough as far as I'm concerned.... unless someones able to pull together some winter events somewhere?!? ;)

I agree completely. I wish we could hold winter events up here in Barrie.

My personal favorite was the course Carl setup in Blainville for the MCO Regional.
Extremely fast, flowing and fun!
Too bad we don't have a canvas like that to work with locally.

who says we can't Steve?!? I don't see TLMC doing it but if another club was interested... that lot is usually well covered

Your front yard is pretty big, isn't it? :p

I thought clubs weren't allowed to use other clubs' lots? At least that's what a certain poetic individual tried to have us all believe.

I believe it was suggested that if one club would like to use "another club's" lot, it would be polite for the club wishing to use said lot to seek permission from the "regular club".

Actually, the 60 acres in back would be good for Rallycross. Also Tod, I thought the Colts were the reason we couldn't use the lot in the winter.

Benefit of doubt granted. Then I hope SPDA, the most likely candidate in my opinion, will make this happen.
The reason we don't have a longer season, or one that starts earlier, is because of the Barrie Colts - for some reason they have priority over us.

for 2005 it was the course in PEI that was my favourite... Day 1 of the slalom in Slemon.. day 2 just seemed backwards :p
