So I've read in multiple other regions that the nationals are coming here. I've also read that the SPDA is hosting them. (well done gentlemen!)

I for one am glad I won't have to travel to far to attend them.

so who else is planning to attend them?

I see that posted in the Atlantic Region Forums.

An official announcement along with location etc is in the works.

Please be patient.

I'm working on a borrowed ride for region this year, looks like we'll have to stretch that into nationals as well.

Can a amateur like myself enter in the CAC?

gatherer
01-09-2006, 01:03 PM
yes....

this is after all an amateur sport I don't think anyone has professional backing...

(2003 was my rookie year in this sport it was also the first year I entered the nationals)

Having CAC in the thread title is vague. I like the new thread and title better.

Hmm! Good and bad news!

Good news: Nationals close by!! :D

Bad news: I have to buy a set of 710's for one weekend. :( Or run on Solo 1 tires.

[checking wallet]

Solo 1 tires it is then! :o

Anyone taking guesses on the venue?

my guess would be Woodbine or Int'l, but I knwo they're both quite pricey... surface at Downsview is too rough, Wonderland in the Summer on a weekend would be a near impossibility...

I'd think that Woodbine would be as tough to obtain as Wonderland on a summer weekend. The "close to the airport" rumour sorta strikes down the Wonderland and Downsview as well. Which leaves the Int'l Centre or the Congree Centre, or any other lot I haven't listed......

As for cost I can't see the cost of the lot being prohibitive for this event. By the time entry fees (I'd ballpark 150 drivers at $75 = >$11k) and sponsorship dollars come into play, I'm sure most of the premier lots would be obtainable.

But what do I know?!?!?

I agree, i don't see it being prohibitive, but indeed pricey... i believe int'l center is close to 7 times the cost of the Brampton center for one day.

nationals for the past 3 years have been 100 dollars for the weekend ... so add 25 bucks per driver to the total thats 15,000 dollars for the event they are raking in

Any idea from the SPDA folks what sort of dates may be involved? Inquiring holiday-planning minds want to know!

for the record SPDA proposed a different date... and ASN didn't like that date and proposed Aug. 25-27 I still haven't heard through anything if SPDA is able to work with that date.

You've got to be kidding... LOL ASN prescribed the original date, but an ASN official was not going to be available, so they asked us to see if we can move it to the following weekend. We're waiting for confirmation from the venue. That's where it sits.

For the record... LOL

Sorry Joe I didn't express myself correctly...

what I meant to say was that SPDA didn't originally set the weekend as august 25th to 27th and that requested change in dates has thrown a bit of a monkey wrench into the plans...

These dates unfortunately conflict with Slalom at Slemon which is going to impact East Coast attendance at Nationals. Too bad.

CRAP!

What happened to the date at the end of August?

My wife and I are in Scotland at the beginning of August so I could get to this event.

Every morning was an auto-x when I was over there. String together a few round-a-bouts and add a start and finish line :)

If you're ever in Fife county (45 minutes north of Edinburger), head over to Knox Hill Raceway. Visits the birthplace of many famous UK drivers.
