To all competitors,
It is with a great displeasure that I have to announce we will be cancelling
the Solo I Weekend for July 27 & 28, Events 7 & 8 at Toronto Motorsports
Park (formerly Cayuga).
Betty Crane, Manager of TMP has been unable to assure me 100% that the track will be ready and approved by the town by our date. TMP management
apologizes for the delays that have been caused at the facility, although
they have had to focus all their energies on the drag strip, due to the fact
the town has no issues with the drag strip. In fact the drag strip opens
today for the season.
I will direct the series registrar Rob McAuley (Rob_McAuley@lotus.com) to
refund any deposits that have been made by competitors or that you may use their registrations toward another event. We still have room at all events, so please contact Rob if and let him know what you intend to do.
From a scoring standpoint, we will be scoring the best 8 out of 12 events
for Championship and any & all sponsorship prizes and contingencies for that
weekend will be forwarded to the Shootout on October 12th at the Mosport DDT Track.
I apologize for leaving this to such a late time, but we afforded TMP as
much time as we could and still give everyone enough time to make other
arrangements.

If you have any concerns or questions please contact me directly @
perry@mmcg.com not through the mail list.

See you this weekend, let's go racing!

Regards,
Perry Iannuzzi

What is the situation with Cayuga? The strip is now open... did they close the course (temporarely?) in order to keep the drag racing up and running?

construction of the berm that must be built to keep noise down at the facility has been postponed so that they could get the drag strip ready for the big IHRA event coming up soon. They can apparently open the strip without the berm but not the road course. As of last week there was still no sign of construction on the berm and I doubt that'll change until after the national drag event, but that's just my opinion. I haven't been up to check the facility out since last week, but maybe I'll go up next weekend to have a peek.
