Could someone please explain to me how a backup score is calculated. How many laps are involved?

Someone told me that you drive untill you smack your oil pan on the turtles and then determine the standard deviation of that many lap times...... I am confused.

"turtles turtles, ra ra ra, turtles turtles, ha ha ha, mmmmmmmmm I love turtles!"

Dood, do you have a copy of the rulebook. You know it can be downloaded off the Solo Ontario website, right? Page 17 states, in the section mysteriously titled "Regional Championship Scoring: Overall Champion" (section 4.0):

in the event of a tie, the overall champion shall be the competitor who scores higher when both competitors are scored again, as below, based on the average of all the runs at each event. The competitors worst laps are excluded from this calculation. The number of laps to be excluded will be equal to the number of laps in one heat.

So if there's 3 timed laps per heat, your 3 slowest laps will be dropped from this back-up time calculation. Dood, there's even an example there for you, just in case you need the Sesame Street treatment :p
