BRING NON-NASCAR MOTORSPORTS BACK TO SPEED CHANNEL!!!!!!!
We are petitioning SpeedTV and Fox Cable to resurrect programming now either lost completely, programming which is broadcast off-hours (11pm-5am), or programming which could be extended or increased. This programming includes:
-Formula One
-World Rally
-Grand Prix and Circuit Racing
-SCCA Racing
-Motorcycle Racing
-Dakar Rally
Speed Channel is flooded with NASCAR and dumb reality shows that rerun and rerun and rerun. Lets get some great sports on TV again!
WE NEED 65,000 SIGNATURES so please tell your friends!

The reason why this is so crucial to motorsports is that if media coverage is discontinued teams will lose sponsors! Without sponsors teams will not be able to afford to compete! Rally is already in great need of volunteers to work events. Money is tight and entry fees will continue to rise. Please save this sport by signing the petition for more media coverage! And it's just way cool to be able to see the WRC on TV!
Please do it for Travis Pastrana, Stig Blomqvist, Patrick Richard, and if no one else, then do it for me!

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION!

Signed and forwarded to a bunch of Road Racing people...

Signed.
I doubt it will have any impact though.... maybe if we figure out where the guy making the decision lives we can parade around his house for a few days.

Now that Nascar signed a large deal with other channels, hopefully they will resort to other types of racing. However, I don't get my hopes up since I don't think F1, Rally, SCCA, DTM, BTCC, (CASC?), and Dakar bring in enough viewers to generate the type of income they want....
What they should show is RallyCross. It is basically NASCAR, on dirt, with jumps!!! Now that should sell in North America!!

This has been brought up before. The problem is that no matter how many people right in, they still get twice as many asking them to stop wasting air time on other stuff and show more NASCRAP.

There is no fiscal reason for Speed to change their programming line up if the current schedule is delivering the audience targets they've outlined in their plan. Speed knows on a minute-by-minute basis who is watching, for how long and when. If their numbers reflect that NASCAR is delivering where other series haven't, why fix something that ain't broke?
Perhaps there is an opportuntity for Speed to launch another network to satisfy the viewing needs of everyone else? I could see this petition being better used to help justify the creation of a new network rather than pleading with Speed programmers and management to change a winning formula.
Well said Rainman!! I hate to say it but it is true...
Now, if I had any clue on how to set-up a channel that shows the type of racing we all enjoy, I would do it.... but the only think I know about TV is how to watch it!

I signed the petition a few days ago because I miss Friday and Saturday night WRC (yeah, I have a great social life). I doubt this will get any results but it's worth a try.

I want MORE NASCAR. There's not enough on Speed. I even signed up for XM Radio becuase of the NASCAR Channel. Speed should go 24 hours only NASCAR. Then again I wouldn't get any sleep.

You got a point here Crusher... if they actually showed races instead of showing a bunch of slack jawed morons with a grade 2 education telling lies in a bike shop, or a hot chick with a tight shirt.... uhhh... what was I talking about? Oh ya! I like watching cars race! Period! Not reality shows, or kids talking about bling telling me that I don't understand "the scene". More racing is good... I don't mind the Bobsled racing either... somehow...

Now don't get me started on Bobsledding. I like two person and four person but what's with the luge? A person on their back looking between their feet racing down a frozen mountain. Then not to be outdone someone decided to turn around and go head first. Then the Lugers got upset and said we can do better so they make another person lay on top of them. What's up with that?
Must have invented by the France family.
Racing rules! And what's wrong with balding toothless bearded women in tight shorts anyways??
Interesting. The only thing I miss from Speed is WRC. They still have SCCA, BTCC, DTM, F1, drag racing (import and IHRA/NHRA), MotoGP, etc. I mean yeah, the Nascar is a bit much, but I still have tons of BTCC to watch on the PVR, and I'm still going through all the SCCA National stuff. I think the solution is to get a PVR and record everything BUT Nascar. Then you'd get nothing done... :)

Over kill on Nascar shows, and other shows that have nothing to do with racing. Now Bobsledding. When did ABC wide world of sports get involved.
Thats what happens, when your program director is a red neck.................

SPEED started its downward slide when it was bought out by FOX (hence the reality shows).
At least their going to run all 12 Atlantic races this year.

Okay, I signed but will it do any good? Only time will tell. Maybe the solution is to have two networks, NASCAR TV and Speed for everything else.

Bobsledding........I was mystified when I saw that airing on Speed. But lets' face it there's not one of us that wrote on here that, if happen to be standing at the top of the mountain when they are one guy short and they ask "hey we need an extra guy, you wanna go?" would turn them down. "Let's do it" most of us would say!....lol.
Oh yeah....NASCAR, sorry I was still thinking about "the girl in the tight shirt" P.Po. NASCAR is brilliantly televised. Mind you I would rather watch sailing than NASCAR but they have opened up a new dimension to racing that is seeing an effect on motorsports, in general, growing in popularity. As much as I don't care to watch it I do think obviously SPEED knows it's fan demographic and they want NASCAR. I guess I am thankful that more people are becoming motorsport fans because of their coverage. Think about it. How many fans come out to watch our events who would rather watch NASCAR but they figure "hey what the heck, it's still racing". The coverage, whatever the form, is a good thing I believe.
